I think the point of Superman is that he's the dorky kind of Boy Scout that would do something like this. Sort of like how a teacher lectures a student who misbehaves. I do see what you mean tho.

I second this. It was hard to watch. I wouldn't mind corny monologues if it weren't for the fact that it felt less like a characterization of superman and more like a an adjustment for the fact that the lesson ultimately didn't matter in the movie so they needed to remind us about it one last time before the movie ends.
