+51 If you don't have an understanding of how STIs and HIV are spread you should not be allowed to have sex, amirite?

by Torphyjaden 2 days ago

I agree people should know more about the risks of sex before having sex. But on the flip side, how are they going to know about it if no one teaches it? Sex Ed sucks, friends don't talk about it a lot, people are embarrassed to talk to their doctors about it, and parents are afraid of having the talk.

this is why i consider myself lucky. im in med school which beat the embarrassment out of me and my friends. this allowed me to educate my non med friends

Counterpoint: Everyone should be taught sex-ed and how to prevent STIs, pregnancy, etc. People don't know what they don't know and it's a failure of our society to not make this education a priority.

I don't disagree that people should be educated on STIS/HIV, but how exactly do you plan to enforce people not having sex??

Sex license

That's the dumbest. Slippery slope ever that I cold see going south. Don't get me wrong I get why but I always say this if you suspect the person could have an std. break it off and for love of Christ just wear a condom.

Don't tempt Britain

Agreed. And men should know about women's bodies and vice versa, I had a guy try to use Vaseline as lube once during sex.. never packed it up so fast

by Anonymous 2 days ago

I hate when they try use spit as lube.

I don't think your idea would be reasonablr to implement, nor really moral imo. Its not their fault thst their education did them dirty like that, but better education in schools amd an awareness campaign aimed at less well educated folks doesn't seem like a bad idea

Same could be said for conception. Although, it's been proven time and time again any idiot can make a child.

There's nothing to really worry about unless you're of a couple certain demographics

At the same time the chance of you getting HIV as a straight man is incredibly slim. Many STIs are incredibly unlikely without behaviours that encourage getting them. It would be like learning everything about quicksand in case I get stuck in quicksand. Useful if it happens, but it's so unlikely unless I go hiking through quicksand territory that learning about quicksand isn't all that important

While straight men do have a lower chance of infection, it certainly does not compare to the odds of drowning in quicksand or being hit by lightning, it is far more likely and easy to happen than those ridiculous examples. Points to developing nations where hiv/aids have infected plenty of straight men. This dude is just dumb and ignorant if he thinks it's difficult to contract hiv. But ya know "Darwin's law" and all that.

Really? How many men that don't share needles, aren't gay/bi or sleep with prostitutes/are otherwise have a lot of sexhal partners and don't live in poor country countries get aids?and how many people are a victim of a sudden natural disaster?

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Yeah nowhere was the number I asked for. Just self reported not gay people. Not by humber of partners or hooker usage or anything like that.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Yes it is called a comparison. You take things that are similar in one way to illustrate your point. If I compared it to itself then I would be making a comparison. Don't shut up. Because it's interesting to see how far the zeitgeits has gone. But like...bro....that's what a comparison is.

Uneducated and ignorant lol

by burnicemertz 2 days ago

I'm guessing "behaviors that encourage getting them" means mostly sleeping around without protection or something like that? But yeah, comparing it to quicksand is kinda ridiculous, you can still get an STI even without sex lol

by carriemertz 2 days ago

Hypocritical when your counterargument is an insult...because that would be the epitomi of an uneducated and ignorant reasonse. I would sh even the textbook definition thereof

Hiv is not a significant risk in sex, its more a risk for iv drug users
