Basketball should have height classes, amirite?

I get the sentiment, but you probably arent tall. Being 6'5 + and being able to move with some agility is crazy impressive, any guy below 6 feet should be speedy. Watch someone Lebron's size move with the grace of a 5'11 shorty is the real treat in watching the NBA. There are plenty of people 6'6 + with 0 athletic ability, they get to sell car insurance and fly coach, so its not like being tall guarantees you are an athlete. It makes it more exciting to have a "normal" size human defy the odds and actually make it to the NBA than have a bunch of short guys competing on who the best short guy is, I want to see which short guy can beat the tall guy, not which short guy can beat other dwarfs

Let me be clear im not saying every tall mf in the NBA isn't impressive Lebron is definitely incredibly athletic but frankly when everyone else on the court is a giant it looks exactly the same as if a bunch of shorter people were playing for scale. It doesn't really add anything to the enjoyment. Maybe if you have court side seats that would be the only time you could really tell. I think the more important argument is less about impressive but more about talent pool. Any argument you make about wanting to see who can beat the tall guys applies equally to fighting. You could just have one massive league and want to see which featherweights are good enough to beat the heavyweights. And that could be fun to watch for sure. But realistically you're just automatically disqualifying like 90% of the talent pool and get less interesting fights on a whole

It's ok, friend. It's not a good idea. You will have a good idea one day I promise.

You're fundamentally incorrect.

It's an interesting concept but you also have to think about it from an organizations' perspective. They have to fund more than one team. There will be a Chicago Bulls 6', Chicago Bulls 7', etc. All of those require marketing, paying the players not to mention that they each need their own venue as they can't play on the same day. As for the actual gameplay itself it could lead to a lot of silliness and not being taken seriously as a sport. You'd have all these ridiculously tall players playing together and then a bunch of midgets. It would be goofy imo. What makes basketball good, in regards to height, is the strategy that each team uses to counter tall players, or even bigger players. Like you're going to have to double team some guy like Shaq because he's massive, which exposes weaknesses in your defense, etc. And speaking of weight, why aren't you dividing them by weight also?

No thanks, Isaiah Thomas was the most fun I've had watching NBA basketball and he's is 5 foot 8 at best.

This should absolutely be done at the kids levels. I have seen too many kids who love the game learn to hate it just because they are 364 days younger than the same kid in their age bracket.

There are basketball leagues with height restrictions and they suck ass Basketball's a great sport because it rewards people of different body types of skill sets for working together and the NBA is the most popular basketball league in the world because people want to watch the best players

The World Basketball League in the late 80s-early 90s. It was a flop.

I mean they could make a summer league where nba players(probably young with low money deals) can do this crazy shenanigans.
