-40 Burger over steak all day long, amirite?

by Anonymous 2 days ago

I also prefer burgers, and I've had really good steak. I almost never order steak because I'm never craving it, but I do enjoy it still. I definitely crave a good burger now and then.

Same here!

>chicken burger

by Anonymous 2 days ago

It's popular in some parts of the world. In the US, turkey filled the ground bird niche as a healthier alternative to beef. I guess the turkey industry needs something to do when it's not November?? And I guess if you unpack it...the base McChicken is essentially processed minced chicken that's been deep fried. So kind of burger-adjacent...

The older I get the more I prefer a good burger.

by WeirdJazzlike 2 days ago

Same I don't like steak

by Mortonleuschke 2 days ago

So much wrong. This transcends unpopular opinion to factually incorrect. You haven't found a perfect way to eat a steak? Knife and fork is pretty straightforward. Can't screw up a burger? There are SO MANY ways, from overcompacting the meat to overcooking and more.

by Kitchen_Airline_9891 2 days ago

I went camping with a group of friends. One of my buddies girlfriends offers to cook dinner one night burnt the hamburgers black on the outside but somehow was still cold blue and gooey on the inside. She also burnt ramen noodles and I had to scrub the pot for hours to get it off

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Buy ribeye. Preferably prime. Salt steak the day before eating. Reverse sear. Salt and pepper to taste. Almost fool proof and contends with anything you can buy at a restaurant.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

i use soy sauce and garlic salt.

by erwinschmidt 2 days ago

No argument from me!

by Kitchen_Airline_9891 2 days ago

That's what I really don't understand as well. Cooking a steak is pretty straightforward. So many different things can go wrong with a burger, the bun can be dry, the meat too. And sometimes the various ingredients don't come together like they should.

by KindPanda 2 days ago

Why I like it as unpopular, I rarely (pardon the pun) get steak that isn't how I like it, even if they overcook it fine Burgers are burgers, some annoyingly high ones annoy me. That's when you need a knife and fork which irritates me

by augustine82 2 days ago

You're making me hungry now. I'd like all of the above.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Tbf there are tons of ways to cook steak. Many cuts and marinades, so they're more comparable to burgers in that regard.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Lesser cuts of beef have more intense beef flavor because they have more connective tissues and do more work. Steak cuts typically have a milder flavor. Hamburger is made from the lesser cuts.

Is this why prime rib is so bland?

by Aggravating-Slide255 2 days ago

Thank you! Prime rib is not great. I don't get why people get so excited for it

by Freida97 2 days ago

Cause it's big and normally pretty good with some au jus

OP literally went "i know this metaphor is never about food, but when it comes to food"

by Bertquitzon 2 days ago

Wait until you guys find out my opinions on Hawaiian pizza 🫣

by Anonymous 2 days ago

my controversial opinion is a nice set of chicken tenders of steak

by Patient_Fishing 2 days ago

I want to say the OP has never had a great steak, but you've never had a great burger. Either one can suck...or be awesome... depending on the quality of beef and who's preparing it.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

For me it's the bread. And condiments. A steak and baked potatoe will always hit harder and keep you full with nutrient dense nutrition

by Anonymous 1 day ago

ill take a plain culvers burger over just about anything

by marcusbahringer 1 day ago

Depends on the burger, and the steak. If they are in a simmilar price range i do agree You can get an amazing burger at five guys for a bit over €10 and ive rarely been amazed by a €10 steak

by Haunting_Village6330 1 day ago

TIL Five Guys is in Europe haha I really had no idea how huge they were. I get them a lot in NY, and didn't even really know they were a massive chain, and I actually travel quite a bit abroad.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I think steak is one of those things people feel is better since they're paying much more for it, rather than actually preferring it. I remember seeing something where they tested it with pizza and told people one costed more and they preferred it over the cheaper one. Obviously not the same but I think there's some truth

by Anonymous 1 day ago

this should be a popular opinion

by harbergeovany 1 day ago

This guy gets it.

by FitImprovement8440 1 day ago

That's why there are 100 burger joints for every steak house

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Hard agree. Steak is massively overrated in general.

by Hueltalia 1 day ago

....you realize a burger and a steak is two completely seperate preperation styles for the meat?

by erwinschmidt 1 day ago

Sounds like someone has never had a dry aged tomahawk steak......

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Imagine going to fogo de chao or any Korean bbq place and all they gave you was ground beef

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I feel like you just haven't had a good steak if you'll choose a burger over it. I like a burger as much as the next guy, but there's something about a good medium rare ribeye or blue rare filet that a burger just can't touch.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Everyone says this but no, I just find steak massively overrated. I'm sure if I was given the worlds best steak and the worlds best burger, I'd still go for the burger. Like I said, I like the consistency and texture of a burger more and there's more flavour combinations to play with as far as I see it.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

You haven't had a good steak.

by ashlyjohns 1 day ago

A "chicken burger" doesn't exist

by Early_Possibility 1 day ago

Turns out language varies from place to place. OP may be from Australia, where burger refers to pretty much anything on a burger bun.

by Massive_Respect 1 day ago

Pretty much everywhere uses ‘something' burger to describe a food served on a burger bun. Chicken, veggie, mushroom etc. very common, not just Australia

by Einar13 1 day ago

Based on OP's profile, they're in the UK. I know some people are very particular about burger referring to the beef patty and not the bun, but that might be a US only thing.

by Massive_Respect 1 day ago

Even in America, you can get ground chicken from a butcher and go home and patty it, grill it, and have yourself a chicken burger on a burger bun. It's just that turkey really owns this part of the market in the US.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

It does exist, but I agree that it shouldn't be compared in this context. A "chicken burger" is so different to a hamburger in its taste profile that I could be craving either of them on completely separate instances. Then to add the steak layer as well

by Fast-Examination-597 1 day ago

Somehow you wrote a whole paragraph on this.

by Accomplished_Luck806 1 day ago

That's exactly what I did

by Anonymous 1 day ago

That's just your preference.

by Verla50 1 day ago

I've had life changingly amazing burgers before, and I'm telling you, you've never had a good steak.

by Ressie31 1 day ago

I'm going to take issue with you on the grounds that we called it a "chicken burger".
