There is no such thing as hazel eye color, amirite?
by Emardjackie2 days ago
Hazel and Brown are two different eye colours and are also different on a genetic level. Whether having Hazel eyes or Brown eyes makes a huge difference looks wise? Not much in compare is on to blue eyes or green. Feel like this isn't an actual opinion and just a factually incorrect statement.

Hazel is a mix of brown and green caused by different levels of melanin in different parts of the eye. So this is not even an opinion, it's just incorrect facts.

Maybe you have some kind of colourblindness? Apparently it's quite common not to realise it.

Maybe. Or maybe it's because I have, without any doubt, purely blue eyes.

Today is the day OP finds out that brown comes in different shades. Good job buddy! Next we'll be moving on to shapes, how exiting!

So you agree that the hazel is a shade of brown, so the eye color is brown! Thank you!

I think that hazel is hazel and that's a shade of brown, but that shades of brown differ from each other and that it's perfectly OK to say that you have hazel eyes. And that that is a legitimate thing. Ffs are we really this dense?

Research says not; the genetics of people with brown eyes and hazel eyes differ (they are more alike people with green eyes). You may believe what you want, of course ... nowadays science is "just an opinion" for many anyway.

As a miniature painter, no brown is not brown. Its a shade of brown, thats it. Otherwise you could say everything is a shade of blue, yellow and red. Just because something is a shade of, doesnt mean its that colour. The colour aquamarine, its not blue, its not green. Its aquamarine. Hazel isnt green and isn't brown. Its hazel.

and what is hazel if not a shade of brown? do you also think that lime green is the same as jungle green?

And people with green eyes don't ask these stupid questions, they have green eyes and that is that.
by Emardjackie2 days ago
If hazel is a shade of brown, then someone with brown eyes shouldnt ask if he has brown or hazel eyes, since hazel is a shade of brown.

thats just plain wrong and you know it

Incorrect facts and "I'm right and you're wrong because I want to be right!"

There are different shades of brown. The distinction is there for identification purposes. Yes it is in the brown color category, but hazel is a completely different shade than (e.g) dark brown. If you have to identify someone based on their eyes for example, it matters quite a bit.

My (layman) understanding is that people with hazel eyes have more "green eye genes" than people with brown eyes. My wife has green eyes with specs of brown, so it might be that she could have had hazel eyes if her "brown eye genes" were more dominant? I think green eyes are beautiful (I have boring blue eyes) so I am happy either way ;-)

Just like no such thing as olive skin. True olive skin would be greenish-brown skin, like that of an alien lizard.
