+66 I don't drink coffee as I hate the idea of being dependent on anything, amirite?

by Anonymous 2 days ago

I get the coffee thing, but no vice at all? Just out there raw dogging life? I respect that, but it ain't for me.

by Gradyamber 2 days ago

I mean not all vices are addictions.

by LengthinessOk7676 2 days ago

I'm not saying never I'm just saying I'm not into doing anything on a regular basis and becoming addicted or dependent on it

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Do you depend on water and breathing?

by Similar-Fly 2 days ago

OP is no Ackermann, that's for sure

by Anonymous 2 days ago

I don't drink coffee because I dislike the taste. Also, after years of energy drinks, I can't stand the caffeine jitters anymore.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

I just like the taste of it. Coffee has never really worked for me, since I am still tired in the morning after drinking it. Also, even if I drink it at midnight, I am still able to sleep afterwards.

by hoegerkameron 2 days ago

I have exactly the same. I just like the taste. I can easily go without drinking coffee anytime when it does not suit my morning ritual, for example when I am travelling, do not have time in the morning etc. No signs of addiction or withdrawal.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

It sounds very crazy, almost against biology and physics, you won't believe it... but people can even get up without a cup of coffee. Just imagine how crazy this is, despite the fact that they drink coffee, they can still get out of bed in the morning without it. Caffeine is such a mild stimulant, that it doesn't really matter. Not even for hardcore drinkers, that jug down energy drinks. People that think caffeine would be relevant, they have never seen the effects of the serious stimulants like amphetamin, methylamphetamine, cocaine, benzylpiperazines etc. Well, as it was said already, if you want to raw-dogging life and if you want to be something better with straight edge, it's your choice. Nobody forces you to drink caffeine at any time.

I can drink coffee before bed and have no trouble getting to sleep.

by reecestroman 2 days ago

This isn't an opinion. It's just something you choose not to do.

by Practical-Problem590 2 days ago

You can infer an opinion from what op said pretty easy

by Anonymous 2 days ago

If it needs to be framed as an opinion I can change it to: "I don't think it's a good thing for people to drink coffee every morning"

by Anonymous 2 days ago

But then it sounds like you want to tell other people what to do.

by TableAdventurous7634 2 days ago

Can you be less pedantic for the sake of us all?

by hoegerkameron 2 days ago

I love coffee so much. The smell. The taste. I drink only decaf because I hate the effect caffeine has on me. When I switched to decaf I went through some minor withdrawal symptoms for a week or two, which surprised me at the time. A good hot cup of coffee is such a small pleasure during the day that I still look forward to even after all these years.

I like the routine of it. I don't need coffee to wake up, but just getting out of bed and grinding the beans then pouring it into the machine and getting it brewing while I start fixing myself breakfast helps me clear my mind for the days activities.

by feestdaisha 2 days ago

Fair enough. Do you think if you tried a week without coffee you wouldn't really feel any different?

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Yeah - I don't think it would be an issue.

by feestdaisha 2 days ago

Totally agree with this. I like to have porridge in the morning and I like to make it in a saucepan on the gas hob. The taste sometimes gets a bit monotonous and it is much easier to use the microwave, but there's something about the gas burner and stirring with a wooden spoon that makes my mornings very wholesome.

by Nelliedickens 2 days ago

Plus, the smell is amazing.

Coffee does have some negative effects. Here's what i found after a quick search. These include anxiety, insomnia, and increased heart rate. In some individuals, it can also lead to digestive issues, headaches, and dehydration.

by Lopsided_Session7510 2 days ago

Yep. I love coffee but it's not harmless, the most effective/healthy way to consume coffee I would say is a cup of black coffee every now and then.

by derek82 2 days ago

Which is why decaffeinated coffee is a blessing.

by AdhesivenessVivid477 2 days ago

Yeah, that's exactly how I feel. My point is just not to do it regularly as then if you genuinely do need more energy caffeine has a lesser effect on you.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

That's fair and your prerogative but you have more choice in the matter than either not drinking coffee at all or getting addicted and requiring it, there is a middle ground

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Coffee is a psychoactive drug, yes. So is chocolate (theobromine). So is ginseng. So is cough syrup. You can avoid them if you really try. But there's not much reason to.

by Able_Restaurant_8698 2 days ago

I'm not saying avoid completely, just doing them on a regular basis

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Yeah, I'm similar to this. There was a point where I'd need 2-3 coffees before 13:00 or I'd get a headache. I started getting into multi-day hikes and it became quite inconvenient to have a couple of coffees throughout the morning. I realised that I was reliant and it was inconveniencing or dampening my hobbies, so weened myself off (with a couple of headaches / 'hangovers' along the way). I still love the smell of it when colleagues have one, and I'll have one of those canned ice coffees on the odd occasion, but otherwise I don't drink it. Last year, one of my friends who is super into coffee offered to make me one on his fancy machine and within 3 hours it felt like I'd drank 3 pints and then gone through a hangover.

by Nelliedickens 2 days ago

You can Drink Coffee fromm Time to Time without being dependent. Its possible

by CorgiOk 2 days ago

It's so crazy man, the world just accepts caffeine addiction. There's no going back. I enjoy a nice coffee and Celsius every now and then, but I would guess half of America is addicted to caffeine, and that's low balling. But this could be said for sugar, fats, etc

by derek82 2 days ago

Same! I don't drink coffee or alcohol.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

I don't drink coffee at all. I can't stand the smell of it.

by BeautifulBicycle5645 2 days ago

You still eat and drink, yes? And breathe? Could it be said that you have a heavy Air Dependency? I'm kidding, but we all seem to be dependent on something.

by schoendemario 2 days ago

I my coffee all the time. Loophole achieved!

by False_Eggplant_2936 2 days ago

Very much agree with this. I used to have coffee some time before working out. My issue with coffee is that I started getting headaches if I do not have it at that particular time of the day and I became dependant on in.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

I don‘t breathe air as I hate the idea of beeing dep….

by Justonmayert 2 days ago

so... what is food, water and air? we all depend on those :P

by Sharp_Method 2 days ago

There are many people who don't drink coffee in the morning. Some people don't drink coffee at all. It's being said that eating an apple in the morning is healthy, and also wakes you up.
