+46 Taco bell is evil, amirite?

by Far_Yogurtcloset116 2 days ago

You get Hobby Lobby, but not Taco Bell? Do you not know all the controversy surrounding Hobby Lobby? It's understandable to not want to give donations at large corporations, but to say one place is better is just ridiculous. And to chose Hobby Lobby of all places, is just tone deaf or shows your ignorance.

Ya but I'm more inclined to donate to a place I buy yarn and picture frames from instead of somewhere I'm trying to buy a $1.79 spicy potato taco.

Why do you draw the line there?

Why? Also why would you trust Hobby Lobby to donate your money to a good cause?

That doesn't make them evil. Evil would be running out and actively hurting the kids. Pretending to be nicer than you are is hardly evil. That said, the owner could be gifting lots to charity too. But obviously more is better. We have no idea.

Would you agree though that there's an incentive to push charities because the companies get some sort of the cut from the donations? Is all charity really 100%?

It can definitely feel a little tone deaf when a huge, successful company asks customers for donations especially right there on the checkout screen. A lot of people feel like a company with that much money and influence should be the one donating directly not putting the burden on customers who are just trying to buy a burrito. It's a valid point to question the optics of it all.

I agree, what kind of monster uses their large platform to help others. Finally someone else who agrees that a company should focus just on making money, and not helping people.

I agree with you, raising money for charity is exploitative.

Then why don't companies just hire people to stand on street corners and ask for money while pay them $1 a day? As long as the money from donations is going to help people right?

I just wish Taco Bell made authentic Mexican soft corn tortillas. I'd eat there every day

Lol. Taco Bell has never heard of Mexico. I do like the comfort of gooey beans and cheese at 3 am though.
