Most people don't like it because they aren't initially successful and it's overwhelming. If you're good at it, it can absolutely be a source of dopamine

Interesting for sure, but fun? Nah man that's where you lost me.

Valid I kinda view it as a game. Not just the calorie counting but min/maxing my nutrients and trying to experiment with different foods to hit protein goals and fiber goals

I feel like it's fun while results are working out and your goals are reached. As soon as you lose progress or it goes backwards for some reason it'll be a huge headache.

I also like it! Makes me more aware what i eat/drink.

I agree, but it's definitely something that can be taken too far. As long as everyone is being safe about it, it's the only kinda weight loss that's worked for me.

Calorie counting is fun for awhile. When you start losing weight it is enjoyable because it feels easy and there are no down sides. In several months you will constantly be hungry hours before you go to bed, be out of calories for the day, and understand why people hate calorie counting.

If you enjoy it then perhaps check out the app Macrofactor. It calculates your actual expenditure based on your food intake and change in weight. It takes some time and patience but if you lift weights and increase your activity you can see your expenditure go up. If you are losing any significant weight you will likely see your expenditure go down, but that is also useful data.

God I'm jealous. What I'm doing it working but I'm pure guessing. I'm not good with numbers so it's line turning my dinner or tea into a math problem

I've calorie counted for years. After a while you get to know the numbers for what you eat regularly. Also, shortcuts for low calorie foods make sense, like 100 calories for a bowl of fruit.

I hear you. I enjoy learning how many calories are in my favorites. It's the only way to keep myself honest
