+77 Will Ferrell is just as good as Chris Farley was... amirite?

Will Ferrell is BETTER than Chris Farley. Chris never had the range.

And I worshipped Farley as a kid. But I am also level-headed enough to realize why someone becomes so legendary and others become hated. I am still shocked by people who used to love Ferrell but now say he is unfunny and annoying. I still love him.

If we're talking SNL career this isn't unpopular at all. Will Ferrell is on the SNL Mt Rushmore

Will Ferrell plays the idiot. Chris Farley played slapstick and also the fat guy. You really can't compare the two comedians.

Disagree. Ferrell is better and that's flattering because Farley is also a legend.

Just so you know, you are the type that causes the warnings on this page. You sound like you are WAY too serious and can't just carry a conversation. Do whatever you want. Just don't talk to me anymore.

I should have known what you were like when you start off with saying "disagree." Common red flag.

Who is some of your favs then?

Let's add nuance: Farley is a better lead than Ferrell. Any of Ferrell's movies where he is the lead are simply insufferable and unfunny. "Elf" feels like a trending-tab-Disney-adult's dream comedy. Conversely, in something like "The Ladies Man", he shines as a supporting cast member. Farley's films are stronger comedically, and Farley has the ability to carry his role through sheer performance alone. However, they're fewer - naturally.

So you didn't like Step Brothers or Talladega Nights or Daddy's Home or The Other Guys?

by tony73 2 days ago

Step Brothers, yes, and I think it's because he had John C Reiley to bounce back and forth with. I think that's the thing, he needs a comic partner, not a straight man. His comedy works when everyone's comedic. Talladega Nights was alright. Other Guys? Meh. Felt watered down at that point.
