Non-GMO and All-Natural labels prey on people's illogical fears about food, amirite?
by Anonymous2 days ago
Or when labels say something like "no added chemicals." Virtually everything, except light, is made of chemicals.

Expecting people to accept science is a hefty ask

Non-GMO and All-Natural labels prey on people's completely legitimate fears about food. They are marketing labels that don't really describe anything useful. So it's not helpful and doesn't fix the problem, but the fears they have and the confusion and concern for what they eat is not illogical.

The fear is completely illogical because it is entirely misguided and wrongly focused

If you think that's wild you should look into labeling and information regulations set by the FDA. It's insane. An example would be store bought Alaskan reindeer sausage. To call it "reindeer" sausage, it's required to have a minimum of less than 2% reindeer. Similar thing goes for "smoked" meat products. It's not actually smoked, liquid smoke is added and the product has to touch open flame for a minimum of 2 seconds.

Same thing with lab grown meat. People are acting like it's some poisonous concoction of chemicals, when it's the exact same proteins, just without the death of an animal attached. This is why we need better education, everyone is becoming dumber and more reactionary

I hope so, I think it will be a big step forward. I can't imagine caring about something like the meat I eat having a soul or whatever. Being vegan and being able to actually eat real meat seems like a win win

Always hated the all natural label. The majority of the most popular veg, fruits and grains have been selectively bred for centuries to get where they are. We took nature and made it better.

Really wish this wasn't unpopular. The vast majority of GMO food is safe! It's literal science, working as intended.
