I guess we should use your anecdotes instead.

You aren't required to get those services. You can simply ask them to perform the services you want and forgo the rest.

But it would be great if professionals in the field would accurately communicate the severity of issues.

What am I paying for in the US? I spend 95% of time with non dentists. The profit margins of VC who bought the dentistries & the insurance company.

My experience in Greece was that way. I rang a bell. Got buzzed into building. Rang bell. Got buzzed into the waiting room. Clean, expensive furniture, tv to watch. Door opens dentist brings me in. Dentists provides entire service. Dentist took payment. Then he saw me out. Efficient. He told me he used a service to clean equipment. No ft assistants needed. And since it was just him, book keeping was simple.

Ha, I think thats how this guy works. Only other person working there is his son who does the book keeping. Only difference is when you walk into his office its like you entered an 80s time capsule 🤣 . Hes in his 70s now and I regret the day he retires. My mom has been seeing him for over 40 years and I've seen him since I was a little kid

Sounds like the guy I went to in the early 80s. White dentist shirt. No gloves. Just clean old man hands. He took no crap from us kids, just did his job.

My Mother in Law is a dentist. She looked at my teeth (with X-rays) 25 years ago and said I would need crowns to prevent cracking. She really had no financial inventive telling me this as she was not my regular dentist. I just happened to have some pain in a different tooth while visiting. I didn't get the crowns and my teeth have never cracked. I've been told countless times over the last 30 years to get my wisdom teeth pulled but I've never had an issue with them.

Smashed a tooth during COVID. Was told I would need a root canal, but I could get a cap installed temporarily until restrictions were lowered. Never got a root canal. The cap is getting a little yellow(heavy coffee drinker). Cap was less than 10 percent the price of a root canal.

Absence of pain doesn't mean there isn't a problem and sometimes means there is a worse problem. Particularly in trauma cases Source: dentist

You're the guy who has a heart attack young and the docs figure out it was an infection from your rotted teeth that you ignored. Or maybe not. Why gamble?

I mean doctors aren't always right about what may or may not happen to a patient but to compare them to chiropractors is absurd 🥴
