+108 People who drink energy drinks daily are drug addicts, amirite?

by Delicious-List 2 days ago

Everything is a drug, people have died of water toxicity

by Anonymous 2 days ago

The classic dihydrogen monoxide overdose

by Alternative-Ask 2 days ago

Right!

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Yeah its safe in the sense that its not going to do damage like coke or alcohol, but the long term use of caffeine has some bad physical effects .. adenosine debt leading to chronic fatigue that can take a long long time to get back to normal

by Western_Mixture 2 days ago

Everyone who drinks coffee dies....think about it!

by Camillazboncak 2 days ago

Bro really said energy drink is the same as coke lol Yeah buddy when you eat candy you go woooooo like those kids in American films?

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Yeah O.P. got it wrong....we all know energy drinks are more like "meth in a can".... Sips NOS

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Lmao!!!

by Anonymous 2 days ago

fr like my energy addiction is bad, but compared to the my old coke binge and spiraling alcoholism? yeah pass me 2 more celsius fella

by May81 2 days ago

Disagree I'm very sensitive to caffeine and it's a weirdly similar feeling especially when you crash. Caffeine gives me more anxiety than any drug other than weed

by Local-Passage 2 days ago

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you've never tried coke

by Anonymous 2 days ago

So true. People are now drinking less alcohol and using tobacco less and we've managed to do that without making them illegal.

by kanebatz 2 days ago

The "sugar rush" has been largely debunked by science.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

yes it isn't a big thing but you still get my point, kids have infinite energy and don't need to turbo boost it even more

by Anonymous 2 days ago

I do agree energy drinks should be limited for kids though

by Anonymous 2 days ago

i have never ever seen a <12 yr old kid drinking like monster or smth

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Some kids. I grew up thinking it was a myth that sugar and caffeine made you hyper and gave you energy because to this day I can slam energy drinks and 5 hour all at once and go right to bed without issue. As a kid I could drink as much soda as I could when I got a chance (wasn't often) and I would feel exactly the same. No extra energy, no staying awake and can't calm down, nothing. Its just a drink

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Most are not like you, it makes the most sense to just set an age limit on it

by Anonymous 2 days ago

I've had these drinks before and I feel like I'm on coke. You know that's not the universal experience, right?

by Zealousideal-Bee 2 days ago

You know what it feels like to be on coke but you complain about coffee?

by According-Map-2834 2 days ago

He's never done coke, if he thinks caffeinated drinks are close to it.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

I've never stolen all the copper out of someone's house to buy energy drinks. Definitely not something comparable to hard drugs. I also doubt if you're comparing it to coke, that you've actually tried coke. An energy drink a day is no different than a couple cups of coffee or an espresso drink in the morning.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

People who eat sugary snacks everyday are sugar addicts....... but I've never heard of anyone sucking dick for a red bull or Star bursts.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

I do know a guy who traded a Percocet for a Jolly Rancher. That's a fun story.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Everyone is addicted to something.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Water and air addictions are especially prevalent.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Sometimes addicts drown

by Spare-Lock 2 days ago

I'm addicted to finding ways to feel superior to other people

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Don't ever try coke if coffee affects you like that. That's not that only reason not to try it, there are many, but it sound like you have incredibly low tolerance and it might actually kill you

by Olubowitz 2 days ago

Guy at work used to go on about how bad coffee was for you. Dude, pounded down 2-3 monsters a day. Then, he moved on to Extreme energy. Guess who had heart issues one day from a caffeine overdose? Not the coffee drinkers

by Anonymous 2 days ago

It takes about 5-10 grams for most people to trigger an over dose and 3 monsters is less than half a gram, so I'm gonna guess not this dude.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Guy, 5-10 grams is a LETHAL dose

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Interestingly, a monster has 10 mg of caffeine per fl oz, and coffee has just a bit more

by Infamous-Proof-5350 1 day ago

Ah, the weekly caffeine rant. I'll need my coffee before I engage with this.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

"I tried it and didn't like it therefore it should be banned"

by No_Jeweler9872 1 day ago

I think you didn't fully understand what op is trying to say. Energy drinks are stimulants. Whether one likes them or not, they are a different category than normal food and drink. And they are more addictive than normal food and drink.

by lorena56 1 day ago

I understand what he's saying I just think it's silly to suggest banning it. With that logic we should ban almost everything humans consume because we are wired to get addicted to just about anything. Most people are well aware caffeine is addictive. Most people consume it responsibly. There is no reason to ban it.

by No_Jeweler9872 1 day ago

We can say the same about chocolate.

by jeromy76 1 day ago

What makes an energy drink more addictive than 2-3 cups of coffee?

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Sugar. Energy drinks are just soda with extra caffeine.

by luiskuvalis 1 day ago

Taurine. They're averaging less caffeine than coffee while adding an accelerant for caffeine. Also, the fact that they all have sponsored athletes that use special cans of Redbull, Monster etc that are full of regular drinking water. Its definitely shady.

by Beneficial_Mood_9545 1 day ago

Careful with your dose. This stuff can cause stomach issues. It does for me.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Yea, you can take it as a supplement for sure but there's a reason energy drink companies are all adding it to their drinks. Energy drinks are terrible for people, there's no real way around it.

by Beneficial_Mood_9545 1 day ago

Sugar

by Least_Total_6285 1 day ago

Not the 0 sugar ones. A cup of coffee with sugar cream has more sugar.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Well yeah, but coffee itself has no sugar? I take my coffee black and so do most people I know. I might have a sugary iced one during the summer but at that point, yeah, that's basically an energy drink with coffee in it.

by Least_Total_6285 1 day ago

Sugar would like to have a word with you.

by hermistonsamant 1 day ago

The age limit is 16 I'd say if people are still drinking them everyday at that age then yes, but that's on them as "adults"

by mantemargaret 1 day ago

Not drug addicts, just addicts. A LOT of things that are part of our routines are addictive, from sugar or carbohydrates to phisical exercise, sex and even the presence of pur loved ones. Babies are addicted to their mom breasts or their binkies so much you have them freak out in full blown withdrawal syndrome when you wean them, humans are wired to get addicted.

by Janie48 1 day ago

Caffeine is a psychoactive central nervous system stimulant. It's 100% classed as a drug

by Anonymous 1 day ago

But caffeine is a drug, so people addicted to it are technically drug addicts.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Technically yes but have you ever met someone who's sick in addiction? And i mean really sick, not smoking a lot of weed

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I drank monster 2-4 times a day for 20 years. Haven't had one in 2 years. Don't miss it and feel way less tired. But I love the flavour and miss that. Don't judge anyone who drinks them though

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Did your teeth fall out? That's insane amounts of sugar unless you went sugar free

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I mean, not really compared to most coffee drinkers. Although, by the end I didn't feel the caffeine at all by the end. Just the lack of caffeine when I didn't have it. Headaches.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I'll have the odd one very rarely. But over 100mg gets me wired

by Anonymous 1 day ago

From what I've had dentists tell me, the big problem with carbonated drinks is the carbonic acid.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I kinda agree with the โ€˜dependency aspect', but a big difference between caffeine and other drugs is that caffeine isn't bad for your body (unless you consume enormous amounts of it). So in that regard it is pretty much harmless.

by newellhammes 1 day ago

Clearly you have never done coke. What exactly is "the caffeine problem"?

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I don't think anyone is really interested in a lecture about caffeine from someone who does coke.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

2/10 effort

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Cheese activates the same part of the brain as cocaine does, and is just as addictive.. let's ban cheese! That's what you sound like. It's not hurting anyone, some of us aren't able to take other medications for real problems, let us have our gd redbull. Jesus Christ.

by irempel 1 day ago

No doubt. Coffee & tea addicts also. Caffeine withdrawal is miserable.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

tea addicts Come on bro ๐Ÿคฃ

Homie still runs through the hills screaming "the British are coming". He stayed about that life. Big respect.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Tea contains caffeine. Before energy drinks became popular, it was common for people to grab an iced tea or Diet Coke for an afternoon pick me up. It's definitely addictive.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

There are some Teas that aren't really too far from containing as much caffeine as coffee

by Personal_Fig_2654 1 day ago

Hahaha

by Late-Importance 1 day ago

Did an 18 year old write this?

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I doubt they are that old even.

by Ok-Refrigerator-6260 1 day ago

Any possibility you have adhd?

by Anonymous 1 day ago

His noodly appendages don't give two sauces about weed.

by irempel 1 day ago

Whoa, I'm personally offended.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I drink em cause they make me super relaxed and chill And cause they taste nice

by Anonymous 1 day ago

My friend.. you might have adhd.

by irempel 1 day ago

Asperger's I'm pretty sure but yeah still trying to get diagnosed iv heard people call energy drinks Xanax lite

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Redbull, coffee and my vape best way to start my day. It does not hurt my feelings if people don't like it

by Strange_Dress_97 1 day ago

I've worked third shift 12 of the last 13 years. It just keeps me alive at this point.

by Carlotta42 1 day ago

If you're addicted to something that is always available, cheap and easy for everyone, daily... Why does the addiction matter? You could also say you're "addicted" to water and air.

by Schroederqueen 1 day ago

I'd say the same for people who drink like 3-4 cups of coffee per day. Personally, I feel that I function well on 1 per day but anything more is overkill.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Caffeine is a drug so I don't think this is an unpopular opinion. 85% of Americans drink it daily.

by Embarrassed_Scale 1 day ago

Technically 400 or more mg of caffeine a day is considered dependency

by amalia17 1 day ago

I know. So?

by Anonymous 1 day ago

*anyone that drinks caffeine

by denesikhaylie 1 day ago

I eat all organic/an anti inflammatory diet, exercise daily too. I think I'll survive if I have 200mg of caffeine a day lol

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I've been saying this for years. I was one of those people addicted energy drinks and physically, I felt awful all of the time. I eventually managed to break the addiction and it's crazy how much better I feel. It's even crazier all the poisonous chemicals that are legal in the US. There's a reason we're the fattest country in the world. Our healthcare system doesn't want people to be healthy because then they wouldn't have all their precious billions.

by karson50 1 day ago

I used to be addicted real bad in high school. I pulled back but I still drink a cup of coffee a day in the colder months.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

This isn't really an opinion. Its a fact. People who drink coffee every day are also drug addicts. Including myself. The thing is, caffein as a drug doesn't inebriate people the way other drugs do, and doesn't lead to the negative societal affects as other drugs, so who cares? It also boosted the renaissance, as people weren't dependent on fermentation(wine) to clean their water anymore, they could boil it for coffee and tea. Less drunk, more alert, Europeans. Legality means nothing. It's a pathetic crutch. So are the things you like, that makes your day better.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I have not found an energy drink yet that doesn't taste like complete ass

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Bro rags on energy drinks but probably crushes a 6pack of beer every night

by Anonymous 1 day ago

You are seriously overexaggerating the harm of caffeine, having a caffeine dependence is fine. Just because you tried it and it made you feel bad, doesn't mean it's the same for everybody, millions of people benefit from caffeine everyday.

by Ok_Bake7877 1 day ago

Hold on, I need my caffeine first...

by Any-Yak 1 day ago

OP clearly has never been on coke.

by Dismal-Butterfly-673 1 day ago

OP is like one of those kids in cartoons that has a sugar rush and starts going crazy

by raheem30 1 day ago

"I've had these drinks before and I feel like I'm on coke" so a person who has done coke is judging people who drink energy drinks?

by Anonymous 1 day ago

3 things. Yes they are drug addicts No its not even remotely similar to cigarettes. They are no more stimulating than coffee, you may be very sensitive to caffein or have never tried cocaine.

by idellawill 1 day ago

While we're at it, let's ban sugar. And ban shopping. And ban porn. And ban working out. And ban gaming. And ban the internet.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

You speak like someone who's never been on cocaine before

by Anonymous 1 day ago

per the definition of addiction you can't really be addicted to caffeine unless it's causing you to steal your gfs money to buy starbucks lattes

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I drink sugar free monsters, watch out for my heroin nod

by Anonymous 1 day ago

How many times have you done cocaine? Did it become a real problem for you? Is that why you are so sensitive about super mundane stimulants like caffeine?

by Difficult-Debate 1 day ago

I have ADHD and refuse to take prescription stimulants anymore. So an energy drink is a much nicer replacement. Not nearly as hard on my body as amphetamines.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Derp

by Anonymous 1 day ago

What's the deal with airplane food, op?

by Upset_Reach_4860 1 day ago

I feel like I'm on coke I can guarantee that you've never experienced coke

by gibsonbrad 1 day ago

He meant the soda not the powder

by Karlwolff 23 hours ago

Sure, "I'm on coke" is totally the way we talk about popping a red can.

by gibsonbrad 23 hours ago

The difference between drugs and medication are the negative side affects. I would put it much closer to the medication side of things.

by Flat_Mind 23 hours ago

You should talk to your doctor. You're not supposed to feel like you're on coke when you drink coffee.

by Anonymous 22 hours ago

The cans say 18 plus lol

by Halvorsonedmond 22 hours ago

Yes, anyway....

by Anonymous 22 hours ago

No matter what you do we always have same destination. Energy drinkers , smokers, coffee drinkers, crakheads it's just a different timeline so keep drinking or not whatever you like

by Anonymous 21 hours ago

Idk I consume sometimes like 500-600mg of caffeine a day but if I don't drink it I'm fine tbh

by Anonymous 21 hours ago

Yes, but let me consume my daily monster pre workout combo in peace.

by Anonymous 21 hours ago

lol

by This_Sign_2862 21 hours ago

OP have you used cocaine before?

by Anonymous 20 hours ago

Sobriety is highly overrated. Raw dogging life is something I'm not cut out for

by Anonymous 20 hours ago

Chocolate contains caffeine too. Are you proposing banning Hershey's then as well?

by Anonymous 20 hours ago

So am I like a coke head since I like black coffee in the morning?

by Kozeymekhi 20 hours ago

Hell yea brother. Thats the safest drug i use

by VariousParamedic7128 19 hours ago

That escalated quickly!

by Anonymous 19 hours ago

Most blue collar guys use caffeine nicotine and rage to get through the day. Other people wouldn't understand that's it's not an addiction it's a need.

by Antique_Soil_6006 19 hours ago

Coke is a little addictive too I hear

by Anonymous 19 hours ago

This The Worst Take iโ€˜ve ever seen in my Life ! Bet you are one of those people who say The people who Play Call of duty are becoming an serial Killer LMAO !

by Anonymous 18 hours ago

If energy drinks make you feel like your on coke, you've clearly either never done coke or yours was cut into oblivion. Even 4 energy drinks back to back isn't comparable to coke.

by johnpaul93 18 hours ago

As a person who used to regularly drink 6-8 a day. Yes. I dont think it is unpopular. We are drug addicts.

by Anonymous 17 hours ago

A drug addict will burn every bridge for their next hit - they will put themselves into debt and ruin the lives of everyone around them. This kid dated the prom queen stole his mothers jewelry and got kicked out of his house then our friends parents let him stay with them as he was recovering and he stole $50k worth of jewelry from them. Then he stole from the Moes tip jar out of a little toy gas container that said gas money for the crew on the front. That is a drug addict - someone that has a daily energy drink is not. Your opinion is wrong

by Anonymous 17 hours ago

Its perfectly normal actually, we've been doing it since the dawn of times, mushrooms etc.

by Anonymous 17 hours ago

I agree, coffee isn't that bad, tea also, but this is straight up horrible. High doses off sour, sugar and caffeine. Bad for your teeth, weight and heart. And normal things are likely gonna be less tasty, cuz this is intensely sweet.

by Anonymous 17 hours ago

And I'm addicted to visiting your mom but she tells me it's a healthy addiction. ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ
