Prostitution should be legalized everywhere. amirite?
by Anonymous3 days ago
Just because prostitution is legal doesnt guarantee that the men get to smash. Right to refuse any patron still exists.
by Outrageous-Hair3 days ago
I am a young female. Went to the red light district in Amsterdam to see and check it out. The security is stacked. Everywhere they are watching. Some young drunk guys were causing a ruckus and were immediately kicked out. The girls have you sign contracts and they make sure there is protection involved. They also get health screenings regularly. A cool area with a lot of free expression with a lot of guardrails to keep unsavory people at bay. As long as it is on their terms all the power to them.
by Anonymous3 days ago
That's at the legal location. There's definitely more prostitutes outside of that area
by Anonymous3 days ago
And trafficking.
by Reese093 days ago
Then those people should be punished. Just because some people shoplift doesn't mean we shouldn't have stores.
by Anonymous3 days ago
I am a former sex worker and I'm here to say that your ignorance is staggering.
by Anonymous3 days ago
Exactly! Sex workers should have every right to be creeped out by the same men and to turn them away. Nothing is being solved
by Anonymous3 days ago
You ever met a prostitute or a guy who regularly sees prostitutes? They're usually not in a good place in life.
by jailyn863 days ago
From what I've learned you don't have the right to say no or you get punished with the company keeping your money.
by Anonymous3 days ago
That's not the statement though. They could still turn men away. You went the feminist route. Tisk Tisk.
by Anonymous3 days ago
Still doesn't fix the issues about young men struggling with dating. A lot of young men i've talked to want a long term meaningful relationship. Prostitution is just another worthless hedonistic activity
by prosaccomuriel3 days ago
Most prostitutes cannot afford to turn anyone away.
by shayleebergnaum3 days ago
That's not even close to true
by TrainerGold3 days ago
It's true for alot of people because it's illegal
by Anonymous3 days ago
It's true for a lot because they are trafficked and have no say. And because you only have very few short years at the age men find you attractive, and after that you are working for much less and have less and less chance to say no.
by Reese093 days ago
My bad thats just what the ones I know have told me.
by shayleebergnaum3 days ago
The most common ones who got accidentally into that line of work and unable to get out, yes. They get paid bare minimum. Literally. Escorts are the ones making decent money, but also have to spend a lot of it on things for the job. Dominas are damn expansive because of their gear. Pretty much the same logic as with tattoo artists come to think of it.
by Anonymous3 days ago
Fair point. I don't think that would be relevant in this context though because legalization would largely make pimping obsolete.
by Both_Tap_99473 days ago
Yes, because that's how capitalism works, the minute a business is legal the workers are the ones who own the means of production and take home all the profit for themselves. Right? That's why factory workers making iPhones are some of the richest people.
by Reese093 days ago
Hundreds of dollars an hour? What planet are you on?!
by Reese093 days ago
Go to tryst or any other platform for in-person sex workers and try to find a girl who charges less than 200 dollars an hour. I'd love to be wrong, but I've never found cheap sex workers. Maybe if you have connections and/or frequent extremely dangerous impoverished high crime neighborhoods there are bargains that can be found.
by Both_Tap_99473 days ago
Discrimination because someone refuses to sleep with you? Are you being serious? 💀💀💀
by Anonymous3 days ago
It's not uncommon in sex work. In the illegal kind, there are adverts that explicitly say they don't accept customers of specific races.
by Motor_Cash51143 days ago
I mean how can you legalize an industry in America if people of certain races can be refused? From my understanding, no other business is allowed to
by lolita153 days ago
If a guy has a reputation for being rude to prostitutes, if nothing else he's going to have a lot fewer options. You forget that prostitution isn't like most business, because it's not just time they're selling, it's access to them and their bodies. At some point they'll start being discerning about who they allow that access.
by Anonymous3 days ago
I agree with you sure some one may have to try 1/2 different vendors but they didn't get into that line of work because they where scared of creepy dudes
by Anonymous3 days ago
I had to look omg lol
by Anonymous3 days ago
I really don't know what to say, or how to feel. Maybe he's a completely normal, tall, handsome guy, and he's just curious. Not a threat to anyone. No dead body's in his mom's backyard or anything
by Anonymous3 days ago
OP seems a bit.. obsessed. Lol..
by Anonymous3 days ago
This is exactly the counter argument to his premise!
by Anonymous3 days ago
I'm in total agreement with you. It goes to show you can be on the same side of an issue with someone for completely different reasons.
by Anonymous3 days ago
Lincoln wanted to send freed slaves back to Africa.
by Anonymous3 days ago
A lot of former slaves wanted to go back to Africa, or the Caribbean, some wanted a chunk of the USA to be carved out for only Africans
by domenica243 days ago
This. Women seek men with wealth and power. Men seek women with youth and beauty. Way of the world. If ladies want to get paid so be it.
by Anonymous3 days ago
Women, don't have to worry about creepy me approaching them anymore. 🙄
by Anonymous3 days ago
Literally.
by Anonymous3 days ago
Apparently OP doesn't realize that sex workers can also turn away customers.
by Anonymous3 days ago
Right…by this same logic every man who's getting some should leave all other women alone and not be creepy. If only this were true…
by Aggravating-Tune-993 days ago
OP is a creep lol
by SpellSignificant26613 days ago
It is in some places. Those places still have issues with creeps being creeps.
by Anonymous3 days ago
Yeah but prostitutes get to avoid being human trafficked by low lives who would be unfit for a mcdonald's manager position
by Chesleyhyatt3 days ago
Won't be long before prostitution is the only job people are qualified for that AI hasn't stolen. It will be construction workers, and prostitutes
by Anonymous3 days ago
Didn't wanted to look :/ but most people are unaware of their own surroundings that pointing out something like that can often backfire terribly. So, the nice way it is.
by Anonymous3 days ago
Dudes gotta point with that banana and peach question tho🤷♂️
by avakerluke3 days ago
Yeah that made me chuckle ngl
by Anonymous3 days ago
If you are visiting sex workers then how are you in anyway celibate though?
by Left-Elephant85373 days ago
Anyone who uses the word incel is a clown.
by Anonymous3 days ago
I have a feeling that's in the "pro" column for OP, a guy who laments men "blowing their money on dates without getting anything in return."
by Anonymous3 days ago
Lol
by Anonymous3 days ago
Your reasoning is more than flawed.
by Anonymous3 days ago
This is the main reason why I want it legalized. It's easier to hide when the entire market is black market. It's harder to protect sex workers doing it by choice when they are forced to operate in the shadows.
by Consistent_Clue3 days ago
Studies show that sex trafficking goes up when prostitution is legalized because demand skyrockets (more men want to buy sex when it's legal) but supply doesn't (women who have any other options typically don't want to have sex with strangers for money) so traffickers fill this extremely lucrative gap with unwilling vulnerable women.
by Anonymous3 days ago
Are we sure it's not the other way around? That it's a front for trafficking because it being illegal means it's unregulated and easier to use as a front for trafficking? And that maybe making it legal would fix the issue?
by Distinct-Implement3 days ago
The illegality is a main contributor to trafficking. If it were legal and regulated, trafficking would go down.
by Anonymous3 days ago
That's not what actually happens though. Trafficking increases with legalization.
by Anonymous3 days ago
Legalization and regulation would absolutely help with the trafficking
by Anonymous3 days ago
Not everyone who has sex is a trafficker.
by Anonymous3 days ago
Your reasoning is incredibly flawed and disregards the humanity of prostitutes. One of the reasons prostitution should be legal is because otherwise there can be no legal protection or recourse for prostitutes if they have a bad client or are being abused by whoever they work for. It means people who are trafficked into it have no real protection because they're considered criminals under the current law. Prostitution is one of if not the oldest profession. It's not going away. The best thing we can do is at the very least decriminalize it.
by Anonymous3 days ago
I agree. It would be much safer for the sex workers. They could actually report crimes. Health departments could regulate it. And it would cut down on illicit activity. But good luck in this country with right-wing performative Christianity.
by Anonymous3 days ago
Lmao, sounds like YOU have problems with dating and women thinking you're a creep. It's certainly not a big problem for men overall.
by therese553 days ago
What even constitutes as a "creep" anyway?
by Beneficial_Toe15883 days ago
Biased: OP is a trick.
by Material_Bat3 days ago
I agree, but because there should be protection for prostitutes
by Anonymous3 days ago
I completely agree with legalizing prostitution. I'm not sure if I necessarily agree with your reasons why.
by Anonymous3 days ago
And you aren't owed men's money.. leach.
by Anonymous2 days ago
Decriminalization would make prosecuting pimps and traffickers more difficult, but legalizing and regulating sex work would make it easier to prevent exploitation. Legal brothels would reduce the demand for black market services and ensure that sex workers are being paid and treated fairly, and give them legal avenues to report abuse and exploitation. Your first point is completely right. There used to be strip clubs all over the place, where men were free to harass and cat call with impunity, and creepy guys still existed.
by laron952 days ago
You think creepy men don't approach women in places where prostitution is legal? Are you a creepy man who approaches women who uses that as an excuse?
by Harberfaye2 days ago
How exactly does this benefit women? Men can get easy access to women, and women get less creeps how?
by Dickinsonsalma2 days ago
The thing is, relationships are about more than just sex.
by HighwayNo2 days ago
Just because something is legal doesn't mean it's not horrendously exploitable
by Anonymous2 days ago
A man can be horny legally it's called a strip club
by Anonymous2 days ago
I made a typo my apologies
by Anonymous2 days ago
I'm kind of iffy on legalizing prostitution because what if homicide and murder goes through the roof? Some serial killers killed people that were prostitutes like Jack the Ripper and Samuel Little. What about children also? They need to be off limits.
by Think-Bluebird2 days ago
Victims don't come forward when it's illegal
by TrainerGold2 days ago
Absolutely no one is suggesting that legal sex work should include children.
by Fragrant-Emu2 days ago
Creepy men will still exist, and nothing's guaranteed. How would this even be regulated? If a 304 delivers a bad service, who do you call?
by skilesvivian2 days ago
Hobusters
by AppropriateEnd2 days ago
Sex workers should never be acceptable in society because the day that it does is the day that society becomes more savage and less human being able to indulge in feelings of lust only for them to burn in hell in the end
by Anonymous2 days ago
You're treating objects like women, man!
by Nice-Split-86872 days ago
Let's just move on to Blade Runner. You can get your incel thrills, and the droids can kill you later.
by EnoughData2 days ago
I don't think we can handle outright legalized prostitution in America.
by Anonymous2 days ago
Are men not struggling with dating, and are women not complaining about creeps in Germany?
by Anonymous2 days ago
Nope, that's disgusting and has been a huge factor in countless civilizations falling to ruin. Nuclear family energy is clean energy.
by Norwoodwolf2 days ago
Taxes and testing.
by Anonymous2 days ago
I agree it should be legal. There are countries it is legal that you can only go to licensed establishments and the girls / boys are tested and the clients are also tested and everything is above board. It is literally a normal job. Makes so much sense
by abigaylepfeffer2 days ago
Username checks out.
by Anonymous2 days ago
I frequently (half seriously and half joking) tell my wife that if prostitution was more socially acceptable, there would be so much less violence, mass shooting, SA, ect. I agree with OP and agree that it's unpopular.
by Anonymous2 days ago
I am all about making prostitution safe, regulated, and legal, I have no issue with adult sex workers who are in it of their own free will Consent is essential
by Anonymous2 days ago
Eh, really your just pushing the creepy men to other women but at least those ones are getting paid for it
by ConsiderationHot51372 days ago
Does this include all sexual orientations or are we discriminatin? And if it is open to everyone on all sides, will the women be paid 83¢ on the dollar compared to men, like they are in other industries, or are we fixing the wage inequality too?
by Rennerivah2 days ago
Are we forgetting that the sex workers in question are also women who would like men to act like decent humans? It seems like "Guys, don't be creeps" is an easier solution, and doesn't even require legislation.
by Fragrant-Emu2 days ago
Marriage is an economic contract, what's wrong with sex as an economic contract? One is obviously a shorter time period.
by Specific-You2 days ago
According to what I've read, decriminalizing prostitution is better for sex workers than legalizing it. Sorry, I have zero citations!
by Anonymous2 days ago
What makes you think prostitution is exclusively about men getting 'a service' ay? But yeah, it is the oldest profession in the world apparently...so sure. Make it safe, regulated and legit - might add a nice but of dosh to the tax coffers too 😉
by Leslie232 days ago
If there's one group of people who never have to deal with creepy men and never get abused it's definitely prostitutes/s
by zackkuhic2 days ago
It's illegal because it's hard to tax and regulate. You have some sort of issue with dating and women and think the whole system should change for you because you're not willing to change for the better yourself.
by Gaylordfrederic2 days ago
The first issue I see with this attitude is men should get something out of dating. Sex isn't reason for dating, it is to getting to know someone to see if you are compatible for a long term relationship. Spending money on countless days and getting nothing in return is why no woman with any self-respect wants anything to do with you.
by Anonymous2 days ago
Yes it should but absolutely not because of any of the things you mentioned… You're weird…
by abigaleoreilly2 days ago
Well, at least then they have another choice instead of doing something illegal, or paying people online for interaction. I do think it should be legalized, but I suspect it would go the WEED route and be taxed too much, thus going underground again.
by Mittiehaley2 days ago
Women, don't have to worry about creepy men approaching them anymore. I don't even wanna know how you came to that conclusion.
by Anonymous2 days ago
More than legalization, its unstigmatization that works help in OPs point of view. ... imo the "loneliness epidemic" is an emotional issue more than a "pay for sex" issue, so sex work would help maybe 25% of time. And honestly I think less than that. Sex plays a part, but I think the issue is more about place in society and how they think people see them. It would not have any impact on women seeing creeps... maybe 25% less at most (and I am very unconfident in this)
by Anonymous2 days ago
See work is work! Make it legal then join a union
by hermistonrudy2 days ago
I think it should be legal but for different reasons. If it is legal, then we can extend legal protection to sex workers in cases of abuse or assault. And it would generally cut down the market for sex trafficking in the same way bootleggers went bust after prohibition ended. We actually have legal Prostitution here in aus for that very reason.
by Anonymous2 days ago
Definitely unpopular This would be such a disaster. It would exploit women, especially young women who may view this as a temporary solution to their financial woes. Who is going tovpay to treat the years and decades of mental illness? Sex is not like a kissing booth. You are literally as close as you can be with another human, you are connecting emotionally with another person. It can give life (and end life with disease). The fact that anyone ever thinks this is reasonable, I do not understand.
by NeighborhoodFine2 days ago
If only there were some barrier between the kind of people who employ sex workers not present in actual relationships and the services they're after. Maybe some form of compensation for these women that's hard to come by that they agree has the same value of the acts performed. That'll never catch on though.
by HornetVegetable2 days ago
The thing about a man being creepy is that ultimately it just feels somehow unsafe. Sex workers should be very vigilant of men who make them feel unsafe, and that would be the creepy men that are supposedly being fixed by this
by Anonymous2 days ago
If you have sex work, every clients not gonna be Chris Hemsworth lol. That's like saying "we shouldn't have casinos deal with slimy rotten people. The workers are people too!" And the same argument can be for strip clubs as well. The work comes with the territory. If you're getting paid to suck dick, you can't expect customers to be cumming into napkins
by Ok_Excuse2 days ago
Obviously. But OP was talking about creepy men. Do you know why non sex workers stay away from them? Out of a sense of safety. Sex workers also want to stay safe
by Anonymous2 days ago
How much of a percentage of people do you think that would pay for prostitutes are not creepy or weird men? I think it's safe to assume that a majority of the clientele that would pay for these services fit into box of weird or creepy. The rest are probably lonely. I genuinely think that prostitution would help all of these men be better members of society. I agree with OP
by Ok_Excuse2 days ago
Maybe those guys should learn socially acceptable behaviour?
by Fragrant-Emu2 days ago
Nah I believe in shame
by PuzzleheadedBerry9872 days ago
I actually did a study on legalizing prostitution in college. Decriminalization seems to be the best solution in countries that have tried various methods of control
by Head_Skin_23712 days ago
I agree that it should not be illegal. Everything else you said is nonsense.
by Anonymous2 days ago
"everybody wins". you basically just implied that the prostitutes are not people.
by Anonymous2 days ago
Are you assuming that just just because it's legal that people will want to do those jobs? There are plenty of other reasons for not wanting to be a sex worker.
by Anonymous2 days ago
Well, duh no one with a shred of common sense will disagree with you.
