Are you talking about the single player? I can't remember one instance were I had to grind or get optimal IVs in a Pokemon campaign.

Ok, try beating red on hgss without caring to ivs and evs, no legendaries, no pseudo-legendaries and lvl 85 pokemon

Are you sure you aren't talking about difficult Romhacks? I beat most of the Pokemon games when I was 7 to 9 years old, I didn't give a damn about IVs.

You guys not understanding. Mainline pokemon games aren't difficult, what i'm saying is most of the game is grinding and that affects the game pacing. I also beat pokemon games when i was 9 but grinding was what made me avoid the game for years until trying again
by Moises152 days ago
What is your definition of grinding? If you do all trainers on every route you will be overleveled in most cases. Would you consider doing most of the trainers grinding? I certainly wouldn't.

in the later games, overleveling takes very little grinding due to the EXP share. is this opinion limited to pre-Gen 6?
by Rare-Departure-15032 days ago
For real. I have to intentionally avoid trainers to remain underleveled so I can still have some semblance of a challenge.

U can beat any mainline game with any random 6 fully evolved mons, most of the Pokédex is viable, luck is in every rpg and if crits are a problem just play around them u know how much they will do. Ivs don't matter and ur more likely to get average ivs anyway. Pokémon is badly designed sure but that's mostly due to gamefreak not caring enough to actually make good teams and ai for the trainers. If you find ur self as an adult struggling to deal with any elite 4 due to "rng" that's just a skill issue

Also play with lvl caps and hack in rare candies makes the games much faster also play with a 2-5x speed up trust me this makes a whole lot of difference
by Anonymous2 days ago
Needing to speed up a game that has bad pacing is a level design flaw bruh. Games are made to run on real hardware not planned to be emulated
by Moises152 days ago
You really pushed it now. Saying most of the pokedex is viable is madness and saying ivs don't matter too. If i train a rattata team until level 70 i can solo e4 with them but the point is that the game is rather too easy or too grindy (grindy, not difficult) depending on how you want to play. I've played pokemon for several years and struggling with bad luck with rng is not a skill issue, it happens all the time.

Skill issue

arguments?
by Moises152 days ago
That's not an unpopular opinion. Pokemon has lived off of Nostalgia and the fact that a lot of Nintendo fans worship them on an almost religious level for years.

Average games with brilliant marketing

If you're having that hard of a time at any pokemon game, it's not the game it's you.
by Labadiebrenna1 day ago
Not hard time, bad luck and hours grinding
by Moises151 day ago
I don't think this is unpopular. They're incredibly outdated in terms of mechanics and most people I've talked with about them have agreed.
