+47 Revoke the Licenses, amirite?

"Have you ever noticed that anybody driving slower than you is an idiot, and anyone going faster than you is a maniac?" - George Carlin

I need this quote

by Anonymous 2 days ago

I agree with the statement in general. But if you drive in a way that requires people to pass you on the right you're the asshole and YOUR licence should be rewoked.

by No_Loss_190 2 days ago

Exactly what I said too!

by malika31 2 days ago

Lol dude is definitely worried and a mid-at-best driver. There's also a ton of people that consider driving "fun" and think rules of the road are just cramping their style, and they think they are ‘good' drivers because they go fast and make noise.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

As someone who grew up in the NE and now lives in the SE, you clearly havent experienced the dumbassness that is the SE

by Anonymous 2 days ago

I mean, I always use my turn signal, my current car has adaptive cruise and I have it set to the furthest following distance....and as someone with plenty of motorcycle experience, I especially don't tailgate . No one is perfect perfect, but when you're in the habit of good driving (like using turn signals, not camping in the left lane, etc) it's not that hard. Also, OP isn't saying that literally anything will result in a license revocation...but that the bar would be much lower than it is now. I see a lot of stupid driving on a regular basis...just in the past week I saw guy in the straight lane just jam their way into a left turn mid intersection, cutting off the people turning left. Blatant red light running, and my favorite, sitting through multiple light cycles because opposing traffic filled the intersection completely when their light was red (and no, not just one car). People like that shouldn't have their license....

by Anonymous 2 days ago

4-6 second following distance, with adverse driving conditions = increase in seconds.

by yhills 2 days ago

Completely legal in my state to pass on the right lane. You can even do so on the shoulder in some circumstances. We do have a slow poke rule however and you should not be in the left unless passing someone or about to turn left.

by Lost-Beginning 2 days ago

So you're just going to ignore the first part about passing on the right?

by Rudolph08 2 days ago

Seriously. Am I supposed to slow down in the middle lane because the left line driver is oblivious?

License REVOKED

by Anonymous 2 days ago

You should look up in which states what you are describing is actually illegal before revoking licenses for perfectly legal things. Specifically passing on the right is only illegal in certain circumstances in NJ, MD, MA, TX, and CT. It's not actually illegal at all in any other states.

by Distinct-Ground 2 days ago

For sure! "Northeastern USA"

by malika31 2 days ago

Yes, but notice the states missing from that list: ME, VT, NH, RI, NY, and PA. So a very large chunk of even the NE US it isn't illegal. And in those listed states it's only illegal under certain circumstances. Like in MD, it's legal "when safe to do so" and in NJ it is only illegal on 2+ lane undivided highways.

by Distinct-Ground 2 days ago

Good idea but unfortunately that is a part of the country where law enforcement doesn't do anything unless someone dies.

by Jeancasper 2 days ago

Yeah, i understand the sentiment that dash-cams are good to have, but they need to be opt in and completely closed off to anything except maybe your phone. I aint letting the government put a camera anywhere

by Anonymous 2 days ago

It's an unpopular opinion, I know! I don't think the data should go to the state, I think it should be a peer judgement system

by malika31 2 days ago

who would it go to if not the state? I'd want a profit-driven corporation to have that data even less you must see how this could be abused & how it'd facilitate stalking, harassment, and other abuse right? everyone's license plates & driving routes (including where they live in many cases) would be public record & if it were a number-of-complaints system, you could do the equivalent of review bombing individuals to get their license revoked.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

My grandma and I joke that they must charge per use of the turn signal because no one seems to use it. Not only is it annoying, but it can be dangerous.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Not an unpopular opinion, just unrealistic.

Indisputable Rule of Life: "I am a perfect driver. Everyone else sucks"

by yhills 2 days ago

No

by Anonymous 2 days ago

The North East has the lowest accidents per mile and per capita IIRC. While living in Atlanta for 4 years I saw dozens of people die by cars including my own aunt. A roommates friend basically was paralyzed. In MA and ME where I have lived most of my life I don't know of anyone that has even lost a distant friend.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Just put computers in everyone's dashes that spit out tickets or auto deduct points from your license like in the movie fifth element.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

It's almost like you just figured out how averages work. Yes, half of all drivers are below average drivers. That's practically the definition of average.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

I drive in whatever lane I want or need and have been doing it for 40 years, never had an issue.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

You can pass in the right lane dummy.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Not in all places, dummy

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Yes and it causes accidents and traffic. Unpopular opinion!

by malika31 1 day ago

I hate bad drivers but what I hate even more is geeks who have appointed themselves hall monitors of the highway. You're probably not as good of a driver as you think you are.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Everybody else is a bad driver. The world's worst drivers all live in the state/province/country that borders mine. Absolute morons. They must just give everyone a license over there. I, however, am a perfect driver.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Anybody who violates any minor traffic infraction should have their license revoked. This doesn't apply to me, as I've never once violated any traffic infraction and never will.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I agree with this (mildly) unpopular take

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Very mild, I know. Still getting angry responses though haha

by malika31 1 day ago

Written and driven retest every 5 years.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Become a cop and ticket them. Problem solved.

by Issackoelpin 1 day ago

Ban cars altogether! No human being is as good of a driver as they're imagining in their heads. Cars kill, injure, financially burden, take up way too much valuable space, and pollute our environment!
