+52 Someday a few years from now, we will all inevitably meet a kid who asks "What's that?" when we mention Twitter. amirite?

by Schmittaugustin 2 days ago

people are still calling x twitter 2 years after the name change, so i doubt that'll happen a few years from now

The optimism is, the platform dies soon. So kids will ask what is it, like they ask about phone booths.

by Broad_Patient 2 days ago

Where in the world do phone booths not still exist?

by Guilty-Product2904 2 days ago

Arizona I found a phone booth wayyy out in the desert during a trip with friends and we all took pictures with it. It was the only phone booth I had ever seen in AZ. And I live in Texas now, and I have not seen one here yet that's not in an antique store.

Nyc?

by Guilty-Product2904 2 days ago

Ah, thanks

by Guilty-Product2904 2 days ago

I think they probably still are in a lot of places but nobody uses them anymore

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Refer to it as "x" and they'll ask what's that right now.

by Intelligent-Aerie241 2 days ago

What's that?

by Anonymous 2 days ago

A window manager for linux of course, it never meant anything else

by zita74 2 days ago

Hopefully that means it is a relic of the past lol

In the movie Moana, the character Maui makes a joke about "tweeting". My kids already don't get it.

Cultural references get old all the time

by Great-Advantage-3925 1 day ago

This is already happening. Young Kids watches nothing but TikTok and YT shorts on their phones, most are not even aware of the existence of other social media apps like Instagram or "x.com".

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Why would they call it twitting in the future, when it was never called that to begin with.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Because language is fluid and constantly evolving

by Current-Pineapple 1 day ago

They're calling out the user for typing "twitting" instead of "tweeting"

by Oconneraugustus 1 day ago

I understand that

by Current-Pineapple 1 day ago

It was a bird app where people argued in 280 characters and billionaires did vibe checks on civilization.

by Much-Pin-8263 1 day ago

Woah 280 characters, slow down there young one

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Literally any of them will ask that if you mention it when they're young enough

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Um, you can ask most elementary school kids that now and get that response.

by Okey78 1 day ago

Why would I ever talk about twitter or X with a child

by Anonymous 1 day ago

It's going to be a cliche. You're just early in noticing it.

by Treverhilpert 1 day ago

Twitter? Oh, that was like a giant global group chat where everyone was yelling at once.

by No_Clerk4255 1 day ago

It's very unlikely that all of us would meet the same kid. Even more so that all of would mention twitter to them.

by bailee16 1 day ago

Kind of scary that an internet platform can be owned by someone who uses it to shape the political minds of it's membership. Young minds will never form their own opinions, it is being spoon fed to them.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I had to explain MySpace to an 18 year old yesterday

by Korey64 1 day ago

It's already happening since twitter is now x.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

No.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Yes.
