This is dumb as hell but made me chuckle.

Same

You could play the A on its own connected to another word though. Like you could turn GHAST into AGHAST and then continue playing the letters of PIRATED turn by turn in the other direction from there

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Assuming it isn't the first word played "AT" can be the second turn played off an existing A or T

by Anonymous 2 days ago

If you play it off first word pirated which was itself played 6 times you can get a dozen plays off of pirated.

by GoldPractical6927 2 days ago

Yes but none of those are part of constructing the word pirated, unlike the initial a or t. The point is you can construct that word over seven turns, slowly

by Anonymous 2 days ago

If you play pirated over 6 turns vertically, then play the same word pirated over 6 turns horizontally you get 12 total plays, all with only pirated, so you can technically play that word over 12 turns if you count repeat instances of the same word with 1 shared letter.

6 x 2 = 12 ?!?!

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Yes, that's what a dozen means

by GoldPractical6927 1 day ago

Alternately, you could go AT > ATE > RATE

One letter words are allowed, it's just only possible as the first move played in the game.

From the Scrabble rules: "If you're going first, place a word on the board with at least one letter of that word touching the center star. You may play either across or down, as long as you touch the center star. Diagonal words are not permitted. Your word must be at least two letters in length"

by cassandra74 1 day ago

Which letters are allowed?

by Anonymous 1 day ago

The ones that are words on their own: "a" and "i"

by Substantial_Jury_244 1 day ago

o i c thx

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Only if you start by adding A to the beginning/end of an existing word. "A" by itself doesn't meet the 2-letter minimum to be a starting word.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Or in the middle of two other words to join them as a single word! Struggling to think of an example though as I don't word so good.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

You can join round and bout to make roundabout, but you'd have to have a weird board setup for that to be possible

by Icy_Piccolo 1 day ago

But imagine it!

by Anonymous 1 day ago

BE and MY can be combined into BEAMY

by HotAcadia 1 day ago

The A is added as part of another word. For example, BLACK going vertically, then adding a T next to the A and continuing on from there.

by Erdmansofia 1 day ago

But it won't count as a "bingo" since you have to use all 7 tiles in your possession to get the extra 50 points bonus.

Checkmate

by Randallcremin 1 day ago

Then your opponent makes "spirited" and uses all your hard work against you.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

6 turns, actually, because you can't play single letter words.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

The A would be played as part of another word, which is still a turn.

by Erdmansofia 1 day ago

Well, now we're discussing what a turn is. One turn in my head is a play from each player, like in chess. In that case, it would actually be 3.5 turns, or even less, depending on the number of players. I guess the best way would be to say that it's 7 individual tile placements.

This guy scrabbles

This is actually how your win scrabble. It's isn't about making a few big words, it's about making a ton of small words that all add up.
