+80 Sure bee populations are in decline, but we might actually be better off without them. amirite?

And how do you think we are going to be able to pollinate all the flowers around the world without natures help?

by Anonymous 2 days ago

micro-drones of course, powered by AI. Attached with hypersensitive sensors that can locate pollen and communicate with other drones. If we focus on developing this technology for long enough, with billions of dollars in investment and enough time, we might be able to replicate a microscopic fraction of what evolution has already perfected! It's not like there are other things our money and time could be better spent on.

That's such nonsense. If you remove bees or other pollenating insects from the equation, you just changed the system to favor plants that use other mechanism to reproduce. It's called evolution. As with all things where the "experts" label it as such a big problem when parts of nature disappear, this is happening since billions of years and just a normal part of life itself. It's not a problem if there is no more hippos or lions or whatever, if a species goes extinct, it was not adapted to the ever changing environment well enough. That's sad but actually natural.

This is objectively wrong

This isn't unpopular, this is just a stupid take

That's like saying, "If the ocean dries up, we'll finally get to walk to Europe." Bees aren't just pollinators, they're part of a massive, interconnected system that we barely understand, let alone control. Replacing them with machines isn't progress, it's desperation dressed up as innovation.

Lol you can't be serious with this opinion.

So you opt for manually pollinating everything instead of the free, automated alternative?

by Anonymous 2 days ago

If we can do it then why do we have to have them die out before we try?

by HugeBox2447 2 days ago

Did you really think this through?

by Few_Document_5208 2 days ago

Sounds like an excellent plan. Especially since we are so good at managing other wildlife (or lack of) populations at the moment 👍🙃

When I was in the US Virgin Islands, I was surprised by how many bees were everywhere. Then I realized it's because the islands have virtually no farming or agriculture pesticides. Anyways, never been stung so many times in my life. 10/10.

Im up voting because this is genuinely an unpopular opinion. That being said it is an incredibly bad idea.
