+91 Dominos is better than independently owned pizza shops. amirite?

by Anonymous 3 days ago

A little too well. I'm concerned for their well being

by FreedomCurrent 3 days ago

I'm a long islander who has lived in a few other places. I always tell non-NYers it's not that every pizza place is amazing, it's that the floor is so high. Ive had terrible pizza some places.

by PositiveDate 3 days ago

They make affordable and adequate pizza. I've never regretted eating it, but I'd choose a local shop if money wasn't an issue.

by Round_Actuator_2298 3 days ago

Damn in my city in Belgium the independent shops are actually cheaper, and usually equal to better quality. They only thing the chains have over them is marketing.

by Weird_Worldliness389 3 days ago

Not if you live in a Mexican nighborhood

by Anonymous 3 days ago

Saying that as someone from the Northeast is absolutely criminal.

by Nettiemarks 3 days ago

I know. My family has shunned me for this opinion.

by Anonymous 3 days ago

Just curious where in the Northeast? Depending I will say it is forgivable lol

by Nettiemarks 3 days ago

Jersey.

by Anonymous 3 days ago

This is like a Texan saying Taco Bell is the best Mexican food

by Dense_Window_5636 3 days ago

I already did. I moved to California. 😬

by Anonymous 3 days ago

Well you see. Thats the problem. California pizza can't compete with NJ so you're stuck with Dominos and coping now.

by labadiecaitlyn 3 days ago

No. I felt this way when I lived in NJ.

by Anonymous 3 days ago

Moving away before coming out. Wise.

by Norene21 3 days ago

‘TACO BELL HAS THE BEST MEXICAN FOOD'

by Anonymous 3 days ago

Def an unpopular opinion. I'd say it's king of the big 3, Pizza Hut and Papa John's being the other two. But I'll take an ethnically ambiguous guy with greasy hair and a chain who calls you boss and looks like he makes women uncomfortable over Dominos any day of the week.

by Anonymous 3 days ago

Domino's is easily the best of the big chains in my opinion. Pizza Hut is pretty good, Papa John's is pretty bad, and Little Caesar's is really bad.

by Anonymous 3 days ago

I had one of those guys when I was headed home from a job a few months ago. I got a pizza and a salad. The lady delivered the pizza and then he came out and sat with me and we watched the NBA playoffs. Great pizza. Great atmosphere. I'd wager dude made women uncomfortable but we drank some beers and talked hoops. 10/10 would pizza again. You don't get that at a chain place.

by Anonymous 3 days ago

No little Caesar's ?

by Anonymous 3 days ago

Little Caesars is cardboard pizza. Bleh 😔

by labadiecaitlyn 3 days ago

Honorable mention.

by Anonymous 3 days ago

Someone's never drenched their pizza with garlic sauce

by Obvious-Feedback-223 3 days ago

I think they were calling Dominoes, Papa Js, and the Hut the big 3 in the sense of their market share, not taste.

by Anonymous 3 days ago

You must not be from the north east US…

by stoltenbergkenn 3 days ago

Maybe there's some mysterious country where the northeast has great pizza at Domino's?

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Dominos is just a homemade digiorno.

by Jarodwilkinson 2 days ago

Brother, seek help.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Maybe…. But I always feel disappointed every time I have Domino's. But the local pizza place, I feel satisfied. So, 🤷

by nikolauscasimir 2 days ago

My local places are starting to charge $40 for a large pizza. Sorry but for that money I'm gonna get something with nutrients.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

A large pizza on the dominos app is only $9!!

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Domino's is just awful tbh. Pan pie is way too bready, thin crust is still floppy with no crisp. It's just not good.

by darrel65 2 days ago

I don't think I've ever had a floppy thin crust from Domino's. They have always been crunchy.

by farrelljerald 2 days ago

Jesus christ have some self respect

by Foreign_Spare_374 2 days ago

Yeah sure if you like damp floppy disappointment, sugary sauce, and bland cheese.

by Consistent-Bike 2 days ago

How'd you know all my ex's nicknames for me?

by CompleteFig 2 days ago

Nicely played.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

It tastes fine yall are so dramatic

by giles81 2 days ago

It's definitely a solid 4/10

by Consistent-Bike 2 days ago

I'll take Little Caesars over Dominos, so it's not a bougie thing

by TieIll 2 days ago

Dominos is definitely my favorite of the big chain brands. Mellow Mushroom being second, because of price. But I have come across hole in the wall places that just hit differently.

by SenseCareless579 2 days ago

Northeast Italy?

by Rcruickshank 2 days ago

Its ok. You just have terrible taste. Or extremely bad luck

by Mortimer57 2 days ago

Dominos isn't even the best chain pizza, let alone this

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Go to hell communist

by First_Potential 2 days ago

Are you high ?

by eichmanngaston 2 days ago

This feels like autism to me

by Anonymous 2 days ago

I think it's pretty hard to ruin pizza. You'd have to be balls-out cooking criminal bad.

by Ashamed_Fee 2 days ago

I am sorry that the pizza place is in your neighborhoods are so far from good. Domino's is from Michigan it is still one of the worst Michigan pizza places. Buddy's is the the best out of metro Detroit.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

When I was a kid Dominos was trash. I am no longer a kid. Dominos is still trash.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

its not a matter of opinion, thats just objectively false

by Dry_Magician 2 days ago

I've never understood how anyone can even like dominos. Frozen pizza is better than that crap. Hell microwave personal pizzas are better than it even.

by simoniscornell 2 days ago

You win, sir. You win.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

there are a lot of independent pizza places that are trash.... but Domino's, I would say is the best budget chain pizza. but to put it as high on a pedestal as you're saying it is makes me suspect you work for Domino's.

by vladimirshields 2 days ago

You recovered your sense of taste after getting Covid, yeah?

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Unfortunately OP you've never had pizza.

by jayne92 2 days ago

This guy owns Domino's Pizza.

by Diannaruecker 2 days ago

Dominos isn't pizza, it's Dominos

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Hard disagree. The best pizza cooks quickly in super hot oven. That's why pizzas made at home are never as good as a pizzaria's Domino's ovens are not hot enough to make a good pie.

by Reasonable_Bonus8346 2 days ago

You must love the Big Bang theory and think the avengers movies were the height of cinema

by Anonymous 2 days ago

This can't be real. You did the unpopular thing right, but dear God that's a bad take.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

I would sooner eat Red Baron out of a dumpster than Domino's fresh out of the oven. Your opinion is garbage like their pizza.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

The pizza shops near you must be trash for you to hold this opinion.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

I understand they now use sauce concentrate and mix it with water, often tap water which explains why some people can be a fan of domino's in one place vs not so much in anothers place. I've had Domino's and after a few slices throw the rest in the trash. A good $5 frozen pizza is better.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Nope. Money isn't an issue for me. I just think they taste better.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Depends on the pizza place tbh. I've had good domino's and bad domino's. Good independent and bad independent.

by Dazzling_Isopod8984 2 days ago

That really depends on your local pizza places, I think. I've certainly been places were local spots were trash, and there, yeah, dominos would be better.

by Nicolasmarjorie 2 days ago

Depends on the area you live in

by Anonymous 2 days ago

I guess it depends what's local to you doesn't it.

by Evening-Formal 2 days ago

I am Disgusted. Great Unpopular Opinion.

by easterconsidine 2 days ago

I don't know if I would go that far, but for the price it is reasonably close. We ordered from our local pizza place yesterday and it was around $72 delivered. Dominos is rarely over $30. For that price difference, it's close enough, and reasonably good overall.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

As far as chain pizza goes, Marcos is way better than Dominos. But yes, you do have terrible taste.

by Collinslukas 2 days ago

This is your opinion obviously. But if you ever buy Domino's for people after promising them a pizza party, just know you will in fact disappoint everyone. 0 people will be converted into Domimos lovers

by Braeden50 2 days ago

Well it's better than some independent stores sure. You haven't really said much there. McDonald's is better than some burger shops as well

by Electronic_Meet 2 days ago

I do love a Dominos but they are insanely expensive for what they offer. They're kind of like Sports Direct and DFS: there's always a sale going on except with Dominos, all their deals work out to roughly the same price.

by Low-Ability259 2 days ago

At most, Domino's is the dominant "fast-food" style of pizza... an independent will, on average, almost always dominate the scene.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Cardboard pizza 🤮

by Anonymous 2 days ago

I agree, and also, they are SUPER cheap if you use their coupons. Insane value. I also get raked over the coals, and I eat pizza essentially full time, I even did a "pizza only diet" for almost a year and still think it's the best. Not difficult to cut calories either since they have great nutrition info.

by Angelinezulauf 2 days ago

I've said it before, a lot of people don't like pizza they like cheesy bread. See OP.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

It's fine, it's edible. It probably is better than a lot of bad independents. But it's nowhere near the best ones.

by Correct-Muscle 2 days ago

Dont come to Chicago, we'll send you packing.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Dominos is only good because it's fast, inexpensive and there's something of a menu. Any $5+ frozen pizza is better than their pizza though.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

There is a local pizza joint here in my city, that has the.best pizza. Next up, is another local one, then it would be Costco

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Honestly I like "crappy" pizza more, so dominoes, little Caesar's, etc.. are my go toos. I feel like the fancy pizza places just lose something and they are expensive as hell

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Someone agrees with me!

by Anonymous 2 days ago

I like bad food. I'm not sure that's unpopular considering how much garbage is sold as food.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Its usually cheaper as well

by Smooth-Health 2 days ago

No it isn't.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

It's still hit or miss on locations, but for chain pizza, they have left everyone in the dust. And I'll do you one better: small pizza shop people do the same thing as In & Out fanatics, and I love In & Out. They overhype it to the moon, then when the Dominos guy comes in for a slice, they aren't blown away because at the end of the day, it's kinda hard to make bad pizza, just like it's hard to make a bad cheeseburger.

by rey67 2 days ago

Don't know about "any" independent, but I ordered one from there recently and it was the best chain pizza I'd had in years.

by Greenhosea 2 days ago

I despised their pizza as a kid, but I think around 2008? They drastically changed their menu, like scrapped the recipes and started over… Ever since I honestly love it

by Rorystanton 2 days ago

Domino's used to be a lot worse. I don't remember when exactly they changed their recipe. I'm pretty sure it was over a decade ago. They improved the herbs and spices in their sauce and added the garlic crust. That wasn't the Domino's that I grew up with. It's good, dependable pizza. You know what you're going to get. It isn't as good as great pizza, but most local places aren't great either.

by farrelljerald 2 days ago

I'll hold the line with you.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

I actually agree. I love dominos. It's delicious. Plus it's so cheap to carry out. I will pick it over any local chain any day.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

While I won't ever argue it is good pizza, because i like to be respected by those i interact with... I will happy eat their thin crust pizza once or twice a year. You aren't crazy, but it is also very unpopular thing to say out loud.

by Gaykoch 2 days ago

I mean for sure some of them but impossible to say all

by Anonymous 2 days ago

This REALLY depends on where you are. In NH the local pizza sucks. But I've been places that's not true.

by homenickryley 2 days ago

It's better than it was long ago, but it's too salty for me.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

I'd say it's best for the value. I have some amazing pizza shops around me, but a pizza is goddamn $40. Dominos is cheap, fast, and better than the other cheap/fast options

by Anonymous 2 days ago

I also live in a pizza-rich environment. And y'know what? I don't mind Dominos. In a pinch, it does the job. It's a solid 4/10.

by giovanny45 2 days ago

That speaks volumes about your local pizza joints compared to Domino's. It's cheap for a reason.

by Mammoth-Resource-797 2 days ago

Hard disagree. Very little beats a ny style slice. However, I do think Dominos is the best of the chains.

by Berniebahringer 2 days ago

Hard disagree. It's glorified cafeteria pizza, I'll definitely eat it but it's not high quality.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

I was on board for Domino's being better than many local joints that serve objectively terrible pizza. I prefer to make my own dough and sauce because of how bad my local joints are. But the perfect pizza? Blasphemy.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

I agree with you friend, dominoes consistently goes hard.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Then you have a really good Domino's. We like ours in town which is in Florida but when I lived in the Northeast there was definitely better pizza places than Domino's.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

This is indeed an unpopular opinion.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Give this man an award to go with his truly unpopular cardboard crust pizza!

by Playful-Long-3357 2 days ago

Depends where you live

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Apart from a handful independently owned pizza shops that are good, most of them are awful and shady with no standard.

by Gia94 2 days ago

Also from the northeast. I agree that this is unpopular and think you are wrong, but I wouldn't say that dominoes is like terrible food that nobody should ever be eating. It's like the pizza version of Applebees. Unoffensive for the most part.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

I feel so sorry for you. I ate a Dominos once, curious what the fuzz was about. The last time I had such a bad pizza was probably 2-3 months ago when I bought the cheapest frozen pizza in the store.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

If i want great pizza I can find it near me. But if it's late and I'm being cheap, Dominos is the best $10 and change I'll spend all month.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Well done! I actually do love Domino's, and I've definitely been to my share of independent pizza parlors that had very overwhelming $20 pies. But most of the time, the independent spots are much better.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Dominos is ok but it's just overly salted

by Tillmanherbert 2 days ago

There was an amazing place where I used to live called Eatapizza. They had an all the meats pizza called 'The Meat Beast', and I'm convinced they called it that because drunk people find it hilarious to order a 12" Meat Beast in a group of giggling friends. Quite lucrative at the weekend.

by burdettemcglynn 2 days ago

Not in Ontario, Canada it sure isn't

by qcarter 2 days ago

It's consistent, but I'd give it a 5.5/10 and the average shop around me is more of an 8/10. Very cheap too, usually.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

I love when my pizza sauce is just reconstituted tomato paste with Italian seasoning and sugar.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

The $6.99 permanent deal from domino's for medium pizzas is the best possible deal in fast food. You are never going to get that much food for that price from any other pizza place.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

I like Dominoes every now and then, but DAMN! Better than locally owned places? Lol

by Anonymous 2 days ago

How do you justify the cardboard crust? I've had frozen pizzas with better crust than dominoes. Garlic? It tastes like paper

by Major-Ad-1603 2 days ago

Dominos is pretty good. Especially with the specials on their app. But I enjoy custom wood fired pizzas when I get the chance.

by Hour-Ad3128 2 days ago

It's okay to not have taste.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

You win. Worst opinion I've seen on here in a while.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

I am absolutely with you. I was just having this conversation a week ago. While I do think there are a few awesome independent shops, the vast majority of mom and pop shops have mediocre sauce and awful crust, and usually too salty. Not to mention, they are super expensive compared to the big chains.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Incredible take, well done. I loved Domino's up until about age 15 or so. Now I would say, never mind local shops, it's far behind Pizza Hut and Papa John's at a minimum. Honestly I'd probably put Little Caesar's ahead of it too.

by Emmie21 2 days ago

The northeast is big. You'll have different pizza experiences in NY/NJ than in Rhode island or Vermont.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

How are you from the northeast and think Dominos makes the perfect pizza? 😂 Northeast of where? 😂

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Insanity

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Gonna have to agree with this. Domino's pizza is criminally underrated. Also, there is no such thing as fake pizza. Pizza is pizza.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Domino's is always reliable wherever I am, also from the northeast. They also have amazing Parmesan bread bites which automatically puts them ahead of most

by Corbin01 1 day ago

Respect to you for the opinion but no….

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Hard agree. Folks are just pretentious snobs though.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

MassHole here. I find this statement so absurd lol. Are you normally a picky eater? Food issues, or maybe a spectrum thing? I would rather a bad local place than a free pie from Dominos. If I'm feeling super cheap and grimey, I'll grab a Little Caesars pizza, but never Dominos. I avoid the Noid at all costs haha

by Anonymous 1 day ago

It's only better on a $ cost ratio, dominos is good because it's cheap especially with coupons, but their pizza is far behind any local independent pizza shop where I live

by Thea85 1 day ago

If your in the midwest, caseys has the best pizza, its a gas station that sells more pizza than gas. Little casers is a close second though

by isidroschmidt 1 day ago

Haven't been to one since they were unconcerned when I showed them the entire underside of the pizza they gave me was molded

by Busy-Friendship6831 1 day ago

That's fine but your taste in pizza is ass

by Dense-Tomorrow 1 day ago
