Shenandoah Jimmy Stewart Horse Soldiers John Wayne Undefeated Rock Hudson Older movies but pretty good. Horse Soldiers is based on a real event.

Probably the most interesting one I've seen is Ride With the Devil. Underrated and very interesting from a historical perspective, focusing on the western frontier of the war rather than the big battles you get in Glory or Gettysburg.

Yeah I found Cold Mountain super rough, the entire movie seemed to villify the Union and glorify the good ol' Dixie boys. Which I understand was the setting, but ick.

I wonder if it's because the only people still obsessed with the Civil War are the ones who can't fathom that they lost haha. It sucks because I love Jack White and Wayfaring Stranger is one of my all time favorite American folk tunes (I'm literally performing it at a concert in 2 weeks), so I wish White's rendition of the song was in a better movie lol.
