Because they are a steam deck owner. Like Linux owners, people who buy a steam deck can't shut up about how much better it is. They have a Steam Deck, or something similar, and probably run Linux.

One of the reasons phone are more than a Steamdeck is because a steamdeck is about 10x the size and 5x the weight. If you look at a iPhone 16 Promax or Samsung S25 Ultra, basically nothing will beat it in a price:size ratio

Phones are actually the height of our technology currently. They are more powerful footprint wise than anything else. They are the most efficient devices made. They are hammered 24/7 for years daily constant use. I'd say phones are priced accordingly.

My phone was less than 200€, but it shows. Camera is worse and overall quality is worse compared to a more expensive one. Do I care? Not really. Do I think it's worth 5x that for better pictures and a nicer feel? Absolutely not

The smaller you make something, the more expensive it gets, compacting the power of an ultra high end phone into the size it is, makes it more expensive and impressive from an engineering standpoint than the steamdeck which is something I cant put in my pocket and have it last all day. Pair that with a better screen, multiple cameras, and cellular capabilities. If you don't need a phone that good or expensive, then cool. This is a really weird comparison also.
