"What kind of music do you listen to?" is a terrible conversation starter. amirite?

I appreciate your genuine curiousity of where I'm coming from. It's because my taste in music is sporadic with no organization I don't know where to start. More than often the question turns into a quiz of "how well do you really know your favorite bands" which gets annoying when they're the ones who brought it up in the first place.

Definitely unpopular opinion because I love when someone ask me what kind of music I listen to and I love learning about what others listen too. Plus based off of certain artist someone listens to can give me an idea of who they are as a person. Obviously not everyone's the same but like I said an IDEA.
