Well no, they expect school to teach their kids everything, theres a significant increase in 14yos that can't read atm because their parents believe ‘school should have taught them' and don't think they should have to do anything about it

Yes, this is a large issue. But they also need to start disciplining (consequences not abuse) their kids for school related issues as well. I can't make a parent's kid care if the parent doesn't care.

Most parents are not wrong Education is important but 24/7 child care is too much

It's an exchange. If I watch your kid for most of the day while you work, then you should be an active participant in their education (help them with homework and check your emails/their report cards). Parents aren't holding up to their end of the bargain.

Groundbreaking take here. Only been a sentiment shared about ten million times.

Have you heard about... having a job ? I mean, you have one. You understand how you cannot take your kids to your job with you, and how that would affect their learnings to be basically not taught anything?? I have a job. I cannot possible take care of my kid at the same time. Even if I didn't have a job, i cannot possibly teach her as good as they do in her current school. I mean, you of any people should understand what kind of work and preparation goes into a teacher's job, and that not everyone is able to do it.

I mean, I understand the differences but why are you taking it out on parents because of that tho.

Because more parents should be active participants in their kids education. If they don't care, their kid probably won't care either.

They don't just expect childcare, they expect teachers to raise their kids for them.
