+51 If you dislike the fact your country has a lot of immigrants coming in, have a lot of kids. amirite?

by Head_Cut 2 days ago

This completely ignores all of the points that people don't like immigration for.

And like immigration for

Such as outta curiosity?

Some immigrants refuse to integrate into local culture, speak the local language and build their own little kingdom within said country. I don't think it is outrageous that some residents may feel like it's some form of cultural invasion.

by blockkaylin 2 days ago

Little kingdoms such a funny statement, a cultural invasion also implies they're taking over and replacing your original cultures. Which unless these little kingdom have their own government id find hard believe personally. People who say this as well more often than not, always seem to be from countries who have actually successfully done this but at much worse rates. Wonder what the correlation is

by Calistahettinge 2 days ago

Exactly, like any place that speaks English, Spanish, or French that isn't England, Spain or France. They immigrants just refused to learn the local language or culture,

Gotta love an argument that starts with while we've done this, this group however have also done this. I'm presuming you'd tell us however that Germans are all individuals and we shouldn't judge Germans based on the extremism views of a small minority yet for Islam it's not the same story.

by Calistahettinge 2 days ago

What part of "I'm generally pro-immigration". didn't you understand? Most Muslims are indeed perfectly normal persons who just want to live their lives. To put in a "no muslims" rules would be unjust and shortsighted. Doesn't change that we have measurable problems here. Also, every second person being on social security being an immigrant is absolutely a problem. Not the biggest, but a real one. Please explain how handing out € 800 of tax money to people coming here is an obvious boon to our economy. When a big number of them are barely literate and 2/3 do not even have completed a vocational training and skills that do are not applicable in our economy.

Problem is that having kids costs money which lot of young people just don't have at the moment. There is no stability right now for young people and having a kid is a way into poverty for most...

by Mrazkira 2 days ago

Would you not agree that there many are ideologically opposed to or in favor of immigration irrespective of how many children people are having?

by Ecstatic-Log3779 2 days ago

Ah, because all immigrants are non-white in your eyes? Thats racist

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Excellent way to prove my point, I never even said this nor did I say it's only white people. I simply said doesn't look like them, this can apply to anyone but you needed a strawman to argue against.

by Calistahettinge 2 days ago

Vicious cycle. Have less kids so more immigration. Housing becomes more scarce and costly, wages stagnate. People have less kids so more immigration. Repeat

by Jamison45 2 days ago

This doesn't seem to be the reason why people in developed countries have less kids. Countries with almost zero immigration like Japan and Korea experience this exact same phenomenon.

A Society that builds their laws and customs around worship of the elderly, no shocker people wanna leave.

by Tracewhite 2 days ago

Yeah or maybe it's actually just that every developed country experiences lower birthrates. The population isn't decreasing from emigration.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Yeah it's probably because there's more stuff to do in developed countries and you have access to family planning, not global infertility from pollution.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Weird that the fertility rate would plummet everywhere globally in the last couple decades aside from poverty striken backwaters. Is it really people have more stuff to do?

by Jamison45 2 days ago

Why not just lower the population? Lower population is good for housing prices, the environment, worker wages (lower supply), traffic, etc....

by Both-Self-5420 2 days ago

Lower population is good for housing prices Sort of. Depends on what you want. the environment Sort of. Depends on how people live. worker wages (lower supply) Nah, this is mostly untrue. traffic Sort of.

by hassanreinger 2 days ago

I can only see population decline as a good thing for your average person, wages will go up.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

I don't think that's guaranteed. It's not that simple.

by Life_Radio 2 days ago

Lol Wages have only 'gone up' for the last 100 years, thats how we got here pal.

by Entire_Wrangler 2 days ago

So have costs, income hasn't grown to match, would you rather earn 10 cents an hour?

by Anonymous 2 days ago

If a house cost $150 then sure, id happily work for 10 cents an hour. Thats the very problem im pointing at. Minimum wage could be $100/hr but if a house costs $50M and milk is $200 you aren't actually making more money even if it looks like it

by Entire_Wrangler 2 days ago

I had three kids with an immigrant man so all sides can hate me equally :)

by Sufficient_Walk_3065 2 days ago

That doesn't make any sense. One has nothing to do with the other. And I fine with immigrants for the record. Unpopular because it's wrong

Did not think I was going to see some even more incorrect version of the already-incorrect Great Replacement theory on here at seven fifty three in the morning on a Thursday.

by fredygleason 1 day ago

This is a dangerous take imo as we are seeing the environmental impacts real time of having 8bil people on this earth. The last thing we need in this crisis is another baby boom. Plus white people are kinda boring:/
