+62 Alpha, beta, and gamma radiation sound scarier than helium, electron, and photon emission despite being the same thing. amirite?

Well, I think they sound less scary because they mostly refer to less harmful things. Photon emission could refer to any type of photon, even the ones in the visible range which are completely harmless. Also, helium emission could just refer to helium gas being released from a source, which might not be a harmful thing, as helium is a noble gas, not particularly the accelerated beam of helium nuclei from a radioactive source which are ionising and damage DNA. Similarly, electron emission could simply mean an atom losing an electron, which is a very common thing and even occurs in electron transport chains in respiration and photosynthesis. So, the latter terms can refer to a wide range of phenomena, most of which are not harmful to humans.
