+73 "Don't love your job, job your love" makes perfect sense, people just didn't like the delivery, amirite?

"Job your love" is grammatically stupid, so I'm not going to take advice from that person. And I work for money. That's the deal. Taking it personally and investing emotionally will not be repaid and are a distraction from the transaction

Isn't it meant to be grammatically stupid? As to say 'do something else'... I mean, you got the same point anyways.

Grammar aside, people have always said this. You don't have to listen to what she said, but the point she was making is still clear. I'm not saying it's good advice, just that it makes sense if you think about it.

So it's not good advice and grammatically poor… you're really selling this.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Didn't say it was bad advice either lol I'm literally just talking about the fact that people can make sense of what she's saying. There's no opinion in there.

It doesn't make sense. If you've got to do mental gymnastics and try to explain it to people then you have not achieved the intent.

This just sounds like a more pretentions version of "If you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life"

What if what I love is sitting with snacks and reading books?📕

Don't sit with snacks, snack your sits

I'm guessing she is trying to say "don't try to love your current occupation" which may be something you arnt passionate in but "making your love/passion your job." It's really weak advice because its not really applicable to most people. Very difficult to turn passions and hobbies into monetizable opportunities, let alone something that can sustain a household. Nevermind the fact that turning a hobby into a job can kill your passion for that hobby. How many people love to bake? Probably baking for friends and family is nice but scaling that up to a town or community and filling in hundreds of orders by a tight deadline? Not so much. Memeing on her poor vocabulary does seem to be missing her point but her point isn't that great either tbh.

Can you expand on her quote? I'm not sure I understand.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

She's basically saying don't find a role within a business that you enjoy doing, instead turn your existing passions into your job.

Here's a clip. She's not the best speaker but I think the point she was trying to make was clear

It sounds ridiculous. She deserves ridicule.
