Fun fact this is an unpopular opinion because it is actually an incredibly insensitive and stupid opinion to have. Hope this helps!

How dare children find reasonable solutions to things that inconvenience them. How will they build character if they aren't constantly suffering /s

Shoot OP, I'm so sorry that these kids didn't check with you first to make sure that you would be impressed by their appearance. What can the rest of us do to make sure that we meet your expectations going forward and not upset your fragile yet unspoken sensibilities and that you may enjoy your time on the street unoffended by our existence?

Yeah, teaching kids to find a solution to a problem is a really terrible way to raise kids. /s

Nah, Rome was exceedingly loud on antiquity. And people hated it.

Yeah, those cars and horns, engines and sirens (and overflying jets, and jackhammers, and diggers, and generators etc... echoing between deep concrete and glass valleys) must have been a real ballache - they should have put their headsets on.

I didn't know that specifically was a thing. I do know that wearing earphones out in public looks kinda goofy though. Especially the big ones like mine.

Choosing fashion to ease your life is a good trend I hope continues. Similarly, I often find sun's glare on a clear day too much. I hope one day they discover equivalent of noise-cancelling headphones for eyes.

You sound like you're a boomer, but you are probably not. Big headphones don't equate to noise cancelling, it's just the fashion more than anything. I have small headphones that are noise cancelling, so I can hear my music. You've conflated big headphones with sensory issues. Most people won't have sensory issues but use them, and even those without sensory issues will appreciate a bit of peace and quiet.

Congratulations, you actually have an unpopular opinionšŸŽŠ we don't see many of these here.

He wasn't given any cute headphones and now doesn't want anyone else to have them either.

I get the feeling you'd also have a problem with the same people having meltdowns from overstimulation, too, right? So should we just, stay inside forever to protect your delicate sensibilities? We aren't the problem, we found ways to cope, you're the one who hasn't.

As long as it's just noise canceling and not anc + music blasting i don't really mind. It reduces low noise only so it's not like it's endangering anyone.

How is any of this your problem?

by marisolbashiria 2 days ago

Ear defenders you mean? They are generally for kids with autism and they don't care if you think they look ridiculous, they are just trying to get through the day and not have a breakdown.

They are everywhere, and usually have a healthy dose of autism. Instead of acclimating the human to the sounds we shut them off completely so they are forever in silence…
