Your creative journey shouldn't be shaped by "experts" on social media. amirite?

So you are suggesting everyone learns to do things totally on their own rather that listening to and learning from people who clearly do know what they are doing?

You clearly didn't read the last part, I said it's okay to get inspired But put something original into it. If I teach you how to boil water Don't just stick to surviving on water your whole life. Add some ingredients and make tea for example Or you could boil veggies or meat. Basically just do something even more with that knowledge. I agree they are experts but they aren't gonna teach you everything you know And all the possible ways of doing it 💁

The title is popular amongst older gens

Clearly an unpopular opinion, Because it doesn't make sense. The point of learning from experts is to get your foot in the door and learn established techniques. Having more techniques and tricks under your repertoire allows for creative freedom when you reach mastery of your medium. Learning from Masters and mentors has always been a thing, Its just more accessible to get your foot in the door right now.

I rephrased.

Even then, regardless of industry making "cheap copies" of someone elses work allows you to get on the path of discovering your own sound. No one starts from scratch, its always a mishmash of all the techniques and skills you learn over the years that helps you discover your sound or artform. Creativity isn't about giving birth to something out of thin air, Its the ability to see the rules and understand them enough to bend and break it to your will.

I don't believe there's such thing as , The best color grade Or the best looking style of photography Creativity is about being different As a graphic designer I've seen some designs that aren't necessarily practical But they're put up there as some of the greatest pieces And i respect that Cuz that's someone actually breaking rules and having fun with the concept of design.

Colour grades are all situation specific anyway. To say there's a 'best' one simply isn't an option, but people online will tell you otherwise when they get all elitist about it

Why is "experts" in quotes? They're experts or they're not.

Honestly, spot on mate. Creativity isn't about how well you can regurgitate someone else's work. It's about bringing your own spices to the table. Utilizing influences, sure, but also carving your own path. We've become a bit of a copy-paste generation, no cap. It's about time we shake things up, do things our way instead of just mimicking what's trending. 💯 You've gotta dance to your own beat, not someone else's playlist. IMO, that's the true essence of creativity. 👊 And hey, if your stuff ain't getting as many likes or shares as the next viral trend, so what? Keep at it. The world needs fresh perspectives, not echo chambers. 🙌 Let's see more of YOUR style, YOUR sound, YOUR vision out there, because that's how we keep the flame of creativity alive. 🔥🔥
