My family owned a carpet cleaning company for 22 years and you wouldn't believe what came out of peoples carpet… We would clean someone's carpet that looked relatively clean and when we dumped the recovery tank, the water came out black.

Vacuum only cleans the surface. I had a nasty cough for a long time, got rid of my carpet and bang... cough has not returned.

It's always fun getting up in the middle of the night, forcing your eyes to be shut so you don't "accidentally wake up too much to go back to sleep, then your bare feet touch the enjoyable hard surfaced floor.

Vacuuming is among the better of household chores. I wouldn't say it's the most enjoyable experience but it's definitely not scrubbing toilets or unclogging drains. Ok, sometimes vacuuming is fun; put on an audiobook or music to dance to. There are also carpet cleaners. The household ones are good most of the time and not incredibly expensive. I find the mop for the wood floors bulkier than the vacuum honestly. And things like a swiffer even the ones with the spray don't clean as deeply as a mop and bucket. I wouldn't put carpet in a bathroom or kitchen and I'm glad our dining room doesn't have carpet. But I like the carpet in the family room, den, and bedrooms.
