Indulge in what ?

Pleasure

by Anonymous 2 days ago

I don't really follow the relevancy, are you saying it's pointless to talk about media at all

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Kind of yeah. Do what you like, life is short, and pleasure is what matters.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Well lots of people get pleasure from discussing media

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Hate watchers do not seem to, they just seem to like being angry.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

I personally love rage watching shows like 90 Day Fiance and the like. It's super fun to hate the people on the show, while simultaneously appreciating the format of the show in general. I get a lot of joy from judging others who have presented themselves for judgement. Maybe I'm a bitch. But I definitely don't think I'm alone.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Also I am not spending hours upon hours making a video about it, much less effort.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Think about art is a waste of time? You sure?

by Anonymous 2 days ago

It's exactly that, so they can complain about it...you can't complain about something if you haven't seen it

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Very odd

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Never understood that to be honest.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

There are entire YouTube channels dedicated to reviewing things just so they can complain about them. Like the critical drinker who seems to exclusively review marvel films and complain they aren't god quality cinema

by Anonymous 2 days ago

People seem to expect groundbreaking media every time, it is weird.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Before we finish watching it how do we know if our complaints are warranted or not LOL

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Because if I don't finish it people say my opinions are invalid and unjustifiable, it's really a damned if you do damned if you don't.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

This might sound weird but sometimes the best thing to do is "not to play".

by Anonymous 2 days ago

It's more like people say a series is good, so I start watching. Maybe the first few episodes are bad, but I'll try and see if it gets better since people say it's good. If after a whole season it's still bad then I probably cut my losses there. Then I complain haha

by Anonymous 2 days ago

But why make long videos complaining about it? Seems like a waste of time to me.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Sometimes you just fall in love with one character and want to see how it ends for them. jared Padalecki made SPN almost unwatchable for me but I stuck it out because I wanted to see how Dean's life would pan out. Then I rewarded for this effort with one of the worst finals in TV. So you better believe I complained. And still do until this very moment.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

It just seems unhealthy.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Because it's fun. I'd rather poke fun at something bad then be bored by something that's just kind of ok.

by Kunzeana 2 days ago

It's fun to complain and critique. My favourites pieces of media are those that are almost good but mostly turn out bad. Because it's fun to analyse how things went wrong and how it could go better.

by Active_Jackfruit6332 2 days ago

I agree, it's silly. Life is short, why watch something on TV, Youtube or anywhere else if you don't enjoy it or benefit from it in some other way (such as educational material)?

by Ok_Tip_1755 2 days ago

It can be a lot of different reasons, but I think it's just the individual being stubborn. Many people are performative about their likes/dislikes and don't actually know what they like at the core. When you come across something you don't " condone"for whatever reason it's easy to hate just to prove you don't like it. When it prob has nothing to do with not liking the media, just the fact they don't agree with a concept.

by Pollichzelda 2 days ago

Sometimes there just isn't anything else to watch

by Anonymous 2 days ago

But why make leagthy videos on it, seems like a waste of time.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Because views and clout.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Yeah I see it.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

This doesn't apply to And Just Like That.

by Bubbly-Baby 2 days ago

It is often because a show or movie has a good premise, but falls flat . . . So people do enjoy it. They are just disappointed.

by Evening-Bad-2529 2 days ago

Weird

by Anonymous 2 days ago

I guess some of it feels too passionate and meanspirted and it gets me down.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

I see a lot of irony here. Maybe… don't watch the videos of people giving negative reviews? How is this different than watching a show and giving a negative review? Maybe it's worse? Don't watch a video about someone complaining about a tv show and give a negative review. Take your own advice.

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Because talking about why something fails as a story teaches us a lot about why stories work in the first place. For example, I only truly learned to appreciate the wonder that is lotr after I watched Lindsey Ellis talk about why The Hobbit didnt work.

Is it not obvious that some people find the act of watching and thinking about something they don't like to itself be enjoyable? Like eating really spicy food (I don't mean seasoned, I mean just purely hot for the sake of being hot).

by Anonymous 1 day ago

Yeah I like to call what those people do "negative passion", that makes any sense?
