Sure they can pick something up, but they can't move with it. Have you ever once watched a stormgman competition? Like ever?

How come strong men don't win every wrestling competition then? They can't.

Zero chance a strongman is pulling anyone off of themselves if they get put into a rear chokehold. They are so musclebound they will be unable to apply force in certain directions

Strongman can win but won't always. They don't train for fights like UFC and it's not like other UFC fighter attacks won't hurt them at all.

I don't know man, those leg kicks look brutal, and I don't think strongmen could just eat them indefinitely. Sure, if one grabs you it's over, but UFC fighters have way better stamina and distance control. If they keep chopping the legs from range, they probably win.

Mariusz Pudzaniowski has fought a lot in MMA and has a 17-10 record. I think one of the most illustrative fights was against former UFC champion Tim Sylvia. Pudzianowski threw Sylvia around like a rag doll in the beginning, then quickly got tired and tapped out in the second round to strikes because he apparently wasn't used to getting punched. But he also won more than he lost.

Look up Mariusz Pudzianowski - he was really good, but not great
by kovacekalisa2 days ago
Yeah but he made weight. Mariusz, even just in terms of lean mass, was a much smaller man than folks like Shaw, Hall, or Thor in his prime and he deliberately cut mass to make the HW limit. OP is saying if we dropped the weight cap totally and allowed the strongmen to compete at their full size. They would be totally different fighters than Pudz was

Just going to point out that early UFC didn't have weight classes so you can go and watch some fights between like 300+ pounders and 160 pounders (the specific fight I'm thinking about saw the little guy climb the big dude's back and drop elbows on the crown of his head until he fell over--I think the smaller guy won, but it's been ages).

Meh. It's true that size is an advantage. A significant advantage. All else equal, bet on the bigger fighter. But it's also true that size isn't everything and a strongman is far from a better fighter by default. There's no reason to think that because someone can lift a lot of weight that they have the speed and reflexes and precision that would benefit a fighter.

This isn't an unpopular opinion This is an uneducated opinion

No they wouldnt. They would gas out in thirty seconds and get picked apart. There's a reason performance athletes dont look like strongmen in anything but strongman competitions.

Strongmen are loaded to the gills with steroids and HGH, not a fair comparison.
by Anonymous2 days ago
It wouldn't be a fair comparison if they weren't. UFC is not exactly the pinnacle of clean sports.
