Middle of the middle row clears

Counterpoint: i dont want a neck ache from having to constantly turn my head from one end of the screen to the other.

You've made a decent argument but I have to disagree. The best seats for me are middle rows and towards the middle of those rows. Anywhere towards the wall is the worst seat in the cinema as you're right next to the speakers and so you may find the sound more unbearable and the screen is distorted. When I saw ‘Elvis' in a cinema with recliners on the front row, it was not pleasant. I had my head to the ceiling to try and watch the action and as it was a Baz Luhrmann movie, the action was so fast that it was hard to keep up with sat like that.

Yeah the only times I've ever sat in or close to the front row is when the show is so popular every other seat is filled. At that point if it's between craning my neck up for the whole show or not being able to watch it at that time that's the only time I'd choose the front seats.

Someone couldn't pay me to watch a movie even for any seat that's in the front HALF, no less the first row!

Or if I was with a disabled friend who only had the option of the front row for accessible seats.

I agree that I don't like the back row, but def not the front front row Being that close it's too hard to see what's going on Being in like the first row of the middle section is much better because you are still close but not toooo close and no neck pain My dad used to always say "the screen should fill your vision" Sitting in the back row, might as well just watch on a tv at home on the couch cuz the size ratio relative to where u are sitting is the same

I sit towards the back always. It's more comfortable for me.

I've got a notepad file on my phone for my local multiplex which contains my favourite seat in each of its 10 screens. Yes, I'm that person :)

This may depend on the size of the screen you are watching on. Front row IMAX sounds terrible. You may be fully immersed but you can't see the entire screen at once

Yeah, if you are a horse with 300° field of vision

I would go to the movies multiple times a week when I was a kid and I would always sit front row center. I lived on a military base and the movie theater was free. But when I moved back to the states and went to the movies less frequently I always ended up sitting middle or back row. It wasn't until recently when I had to sit front row because that was the only seat available that I remembered how good front row center is. It feels way more immersive

Wrong. The best seats are the ones that don't have people sitting on either side of you

In a theatre with regular seats I like the front row of the upper section because of the rail to put your feet on The theater I go to now has recliner seats and honestly every seat I've been in has been great
by Anonymous2 days ago
Well this is unpopular. Here only the fancy cinema has recliners. They are most definitely not standard

Do you have poor vision or something? Ideal would be central to the theater. Don't have to look up or down, left or right, just straight forward.

3rd row back, right in the middle is perfection. Not too close and not too far away.

Unpopular, and an actual opinion. Full marks. We are sitting separately at the theater, though.

Honestly front seat isn't too bad for me after a few tries, but it is obviously far from my first choice

The view can be distorted and the sound mix isn't ideal that close to the front, it's pretty objectively bad lol

Depending on the size of the theater and if the seats are recliners, I like the 2nd through 4th row. The first row of seats down a set of steps toward the screen in most theaters, rather than any rows up steps. Immersive. Less distractions.

Finally a good unpopular opinion

I had to watch True lies in the front row because they were the only tickets left. It was very jarring, never again

For short people this is a non issue, but for people like myself, it very much is

I'm not sure what size screens you are looking at, but when I went to see Guardian's of the Galaxy, the cinema was so full they only had the front row left. I nearly got whiplash trying to see what was happening on either side of the screen.

Before recliners, middle middle. Now, a few rows forward of middle. As you said, the back is terrible with recliners, I have to essentiall look down my torso to see the screen.
