True for most cases, but not all. For the last few years 90% of my gaming has been in VR, always standing and moving around. I work up more of a sweat doing that than I did when I was in a bowling league.

Dictionary definition: an activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others for entertainment. Some very few video games require physical exertion, but I'd say you're pushing the definition of physical exertion to the limit. I also don't think even any of the esports compete in physical games. Like if I go out with some friend and toss a football around, I don't consider myself a football player. I think it's certainly fair to say video games can be just as competitive as sports. I certainly would enjoy watching esports over traditional sports. I think people should understand that games aren't sports, it's just a convenient way to get the idea across. It's why they qualify it as esports and not just sports.

Some games are definetley pretty close to sports. I mean, the entire purpose of some Video Games is to be a sports game. There is similarities between something like League of Legends and mainline sports. There isn't a similarity between Animal Crossing and sports really.

The difference is the physical activity. If you think tze effort of playing the wii is in any way comparable to actual sport you're delusional. Playing sports is also not a waste of time because you keep yourself fit with it. In most other ways I agree with you, but these two differences are pretty big.

In the case of the Wii, I would say the activity could make Wii sports real sports. Using a baseball for something doesn't make what you're doing a sport. Same as using a Wii with some sports doesn't make video games generally a sport.
