+61 Wearing white as a wedding guest is fine, amirite?

It's seen (rightfully so) as you trying to outshine the bride. Just wear red... green... whatever but don't be that person. Everyone hates that person. That person is full of herself. Don't be that person.

i'd flip that and ask yourself this: if you throw a very very expensive party and make it clear it's ana extremely important day to you and pretty much the only concession you're making is not to wear one colour, are you being unfair?

I wouldn't expect to be the center of attention just because I spent money. That's like pay2win which is very shameful. Why would I be upset about a guest wearing a specific color? They're my friends, not unpaid extras.

For your wedding sure, but it's the bride and grooms day and if they haven't said you can it's safe to assume you don't because it's seen as disrespectful

I also don't really see the problem in other people wearing white at a wedding, but if the bride does not want anybody else to be wearing white i think people should respect that.

It's just a very simple thing to not do? Even if your belief is that it's no big deal it's just very easy to not do it

I had 2 friends wear white to my wedding and i was told i was supposed to go confront the offenders and possibly kick them out. My mom told me something to this effect and so did my older brother who was seating people. I was just too busy to care. I told them to leave it. All was absolutely fine and no i didn't feel outshined!

All of the rules these days are stupid. Weddings are adult sweet 16s lol. Get over yourself. Sometimes I feel like it sets women back because a lot of the people bent out of shape over very petty rules are the brides.

i personally wouldn't care bc if the person wearing white is trying to outshine me, that's a them problem. but i also think it's rude to try to look like the bride. wearing a white shirt for example is one of the exceptions, so if what u're wearing doesn't look like a wedding dress then i don't mind
