+81 Characterizing Every Tesla is Cringe, amirite?

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Lmao. OP, people don't think you're rich for driving a tesla. You're always going to be associated with fascist techbros because Tesla is controlled by the most famous fascist techbro and his minions.

I'd be really skeptical about the claim that a Tesla is cheaper to own than a Camry. You'll buy no gas, and have a nominally higher power bill with the Tesla, yes. But Teslas... aren't known for being mechanically sound vehicles. You change the oil, follow the maintenance schedule, and you'll be driving that Camry 200,000 miles later, minimum.

My kids punch me when they see a Tesla, just like I used to do with punch bugs. Ain't no punch bugs anymore. Unrelated, I guess, except that the Tesla styling is unique enough for my 5 year old to pick them out. Maybe that's part of why they're all characterized the same way.

you can absolve your Tesla by tacking one of those "I bought this before Elon went crazy" stickers on the back.

And then have to try to explain how you ignored his nonsense back even before he claimed those divers or whoever were pedophiles.

But I hate virtue signaling so much :(

If you don't want to have to justify your moral correctness or financial decisions to strangers then you should also not care about what they think when they see you or your Tesla. Caring about what they think but not trying to 'virtue signal' is a bad spot to be in, it just makes you feel worse. It's like driving in 2 lanes. Pick one. Just my 2 cents, Teslas aren't a thing in my country so I don't know what it's like for you.

If you support Musk and drive a Tesla, you've just gotta live with it

It's kind of funny that the term virtue signalling itself has become a virtue signal

It's not about the price point it's about the people themselves who tend to drive Tesla's. In my experience a Tesla driver is the most entitled on the road and it's not even close - they are horrible at merging, and many drive as if they are the only ones around on the road. And then there is the cyber truck… which just speaks for itself.

People don't think you're rich for driving a Tesla. They think you're okay with Musk-rat.

Not rich, wasteful. For example; I wouldn't pay more than $3k for one of those under-engineered random loot boxes of inconvenient inequity
