Everyone should have ID microchipped into them, amirite?
by Anonymous2 days ago
Ah yes. Famously, barcoding people worked so well in the past. 💀

Hello Russian asset.

No thanks Satan I'm good. That's the future if you read revelations in the Bible and nothing good will come of it.

"Having ID on you is so important" No, it isn't. I live in a country with a registry and everyone has to own an id, but we don't have to carry it nor is it needed in daily life, unless you are 16 and look like 15, so you can't buy beer.

Making the liquor store clerk scan my left buttcheek so I can buy vodka

As soon as you look over 18, no one cares over here. No mandatory checking, no moral panic theatre when a balding dad with children in tow puts a six-pack on the belt.

Where I live you are required to ID anyone that looks under 35, and people typically do ask But where I grew up I went to the store at age 10 with a note from my mum to buy wine and cigarettes on a regular basis lol

OP came to a fork in the road. Down one way, he had to be an adult who remembers his wallet or, at the very least, notices quickly and heads back home to get it. Down the other, he wants every single person tagged and tracked by governments and corporations everywhere they go.

Lol, QR code, that's not going to be a good idea. xD Then you would need to get a tattoo of it, and in bad lighting, or on a darker skinned person you can't read it that easily. Way to easy to fail. The idea does kinda make sense, but it needs to be in a way that it can't easily be faked, plus unlike a real ID (not the US version with no photo or anything to ID you with), there aren't a photo, there isn't any real way to tell if it's correct, then the one checking you would need a device to show the info on it, then it might work, as then there could be a photo and other info on there. Also how often do you even need the ID? Maybe when you buy alcohol and such, or when you are at a doctor or the likes to scan, but that isn't that often.

The ID's in the US do have a photo though

Okay I might be uninformed, but don't you guys mostly just use SSN? I guess sometimes you do use ID, but for a lot of things don't you just say that and it's good? Or am I mistaken?
by Content-Syllabub29752 days ago
You are mistaken We use ID's for almost all identification purposes, usually it's a drivers license because they are most common. But you can also use a state issued ID or a passport. All of them have a photo If you want to buy age restricted things, travel on a plane, drive a car, use a hospital, or do any other thing that you need to prove your identity/age/etc you have to provide a photo ID Basically you only use your social security number for tax, job, banking, and government benefit purposes (and a few other less common things). And sometimes you also need a photo ID Also you basically never tell anyone your social security number. Like some random clerk at the liquor store is not getting that, that's a short trip to identity theft

Ah okay my bad, then it's kinda like a lot of other places then.

A far as I'm aware, a SSN is essentially a tax code. But other IDs like drivers licence, passport etc are all photo IDs. Not sure about the states but in my country you can also get an 18+ card as a photo ID for buying restricted products. Handy if you don't have a passport or drivers licence

You can have mine.

It's a pity our governments feel the need to track everybody more and more. There are benefits but it's expensive and open to all sorts of mususe

I'd be ok if they could implant my debit card chip so I can just scan my wrist or something.

Nice try, Bill Gates but you're not fooling anyone with your throwaway account /s

I agree that having ID on you is important. But I'm not getting any type of medical procedure to implant anything into me. Some type of watch, bracelet, necklace, or app on my phone, etc. Sure. But implanting non-life-saving devices into people? Yeah that isn't going to work.
