+73 Banksy's latest graffiti is idiotic and misguided, amirite?

Judges are given discretion of there sentences that's the commons law system. Legislation only dictates minimums and maximums. Current court staff are part of the problem of these poor sentences…

by ItchyLibrarian 3 days ago

Because they're sentencing in stupid manners

by Anonymous 3 days ago

Tell me what sentence has been handed down that is not just the implementation of the law and the tightly controlled discretion it gives?

We're not gonna pretend that left wing protests don't get nearly as much crackdown as "right wing" ones. And we're not gonna pretend that all the mf's in grooming gangs don't get let off easy. They'll go hunt down Tommy Robinson for a protest he wasn't even at. And then let a literal rapist who's not even supposed to be in England back out to walk around Tescos and run into his victim. We're not gonna pretend they aren't having hotels chock full of dudes, ogling teen girls.

Here's exactly why you (and Banksy) are uninformed and lashing out at things you don't understand - theyll go hunt down Tommy Robinson You couldnt make it three sentences without completely confusing who you're complaining about. What Judges have hunted down Tommy Robinson? It's not the judociary that decides who gets charged and why. This should be a sign to you that your reaction is emotional and not concerned with facts.

Bruh. They literally let criminals go with lenient sentences. It just as bad if not worse as the US.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

The judges cannot hand down whatever sentences they want - they are proscribed by Parliament. Unless you can point to a sentence being handed down that goes beyond those proscriptions, then the criticism is completely mistargeted - your problem is with the people who make the law.

It isn't AI so you should be worried about your grip on reality if youre so confident in that assumption.

Oh so you are just unoriginal on your own then? Have at it I suppose

you are just a parrot, you are a sheep you are still asleep, wake up and join us,

So his 'art' is lacking so much nuance that it is essentially a lie, then.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Pretty sure this about arresting +800 people for protesting genocide

by Duncancorwin 2 days ago

Yes, and the judiciary does not decide who gets arrested and for what. You've made the same mistake Banksy has.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Then sounds like you lack media literacy

by Duncancorwin 2 days ago

Explain how? Try to engage and respond with the point I'm making.

The imagery is a reflection of the corruption of the system, it's not to be viewed as a literal representation of judges attacking protesters. In the body of your text you admit that the laws themselves are/could be unjust and that is all a part of the same system that represses the interests of the people.

by Duncancorwin 2 days ago

Right, yet 90% of the people understood that.

by Duncancorwin 2 days ago

Common law is built upon a foundation of precedents. As a result, the legal system is a laggard and rarely in-sync with contemporary social values. That isn't an inherently bad thing, but it does explain why people are frequently – and quite justifiably – outraged by what they see as a failure of the judicial system.

by chanelgislason 2 days ago

Sentences are proscribed and only depend on precedent to the extent that like cases are treated alike - but only ever in the bounds of the proscribed sentencing ranges that are not set by the judges handing down the sentences. I take your point about why people see it as a failure of the judiciary but that doesn't make it right.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

I don't know what misunderstandings you have about common law that makes you think the judiciary are a reasonable target for this criticism. Under the common law sentence ranges are still proscribed and not set by the Judges handing down the sentences.

Ok bootlicker

hello ai how are you today

by schoengladyce 2 days ago

Not AI, why would you think that? I didn't even proofread it so it's surely not 'too clean' or whatever.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

I mean it's not. It's real. I am surprised he would be on their side tho. I'm almost convinced he just didn't think about it, and just figured it would be like all his other leftist graffiti. Somehow, not realizing the implications.

by Anonymous 2 days ago

Oh whose side?

"The populist right". If I understand what OP is saying
