Bacon wrapped foods are worse than if there was no bacon. amirite?
by roman692 days ago
Scallops
by Anonymous2 days ago
I think i agreed with op in general but this feels like an obvious exception
by Inevitable_Stand2 days ago
Bacon works well wrapped around light tasting items. Like scallops.
by Alfredoschuster2 days ago
Guess what I'm about to say… better without the bacon.
by roman692 days ago
Gotta agree with this. Scallops don't need much of anything to taste good.
by Cool-Chemical2 days ago
They don't taste good at all
by Arianna782 days ago
Hard to cook right, they suck a ton of heat so you need super strong burners.
by Nabbott2 days ago
You wouldn't say that if you'd tried it tho
by Anonymous2 days ago
No I agree, wrapping things in bacon prevents them from getting crispy and delicious, and makes them just taste like bacon. If you want a pile of bacon, just eat a pile of bacon. It's cheaper than pretending you want the steak or scallop underneath.
by Anonymous2 days ago
A bacon wrapped filet mignon, Im not a filet person myself, but I dont really get why I would pay that much for a piece of steak that ends up tasting a lot like bacon.
by ansel672 days ago
Right! I like my steak with a peppercorn crust or at least a little char, I'm not going to wrap it in bacon so it never gets a nice crust.
by Anonymous2 days ago
I actually agree with you, but not fully because of flavor or anything. I just feel like the bacon tends to ruin the texture for a lot of foods.
by gavin642 days ago
I only like crisp bacon so for me, the other food ruins the texture of the bacon.
by Anonymous2 days ago
Right? So at that point I would just prefer the bacon to be on its own. Because I also only like crispy bacon, not floppy, chewy bacon.
by gavin642 days ago
The bacon is floppy, and the thing it's wrapping doesn't get crisp on the outside either
by ahmedokon2 days ago
Bacon wrapped improves any vegan food by 10x
by Anonymous2 days ago
I agree except for the jalapeno poppers
by Aylinwuckert2 days ago
Saucy bacon wrapped water chestnuts > water chestnuts. Otherwise, I'm with you.
by Anonymous2 days ago
Have you tried bacon wrapped bacon? It tends to be twice as good.
by Anonymous2 days ago
"it turns bacon into an unappetizing floppy meat bandaid" Well, there's your problem right there...bacon shouldn't be floppy. It should be nice and crispy. I'm of the mind that bacon makes everything taste better. And if you think bacon-wrapped jalapeños (not you op. You have terr'ible taste) is good, try it with prosciutto and some bacon jam. 🔥
by Anonymous2 days ago
I think op is wrong but there is a good point about floppy bacon. Other than poppers, most foods I've had that are bacon wrapped tend to have limp bacon that falls off first bite. If I could get it crisp, it would be perfect
by No-Inflation66252 days ago
I agree wholeheartedly I'm afraid. Bacon should be CRISPY not soaked in juices until it's meat gum.
by Heaneylavon2 days ago
Hard agree. Bacon that is cooked around anything is flaccid and depressing, it needs to be cooked separately then added to be good.
by aidenmann2 days ago
100% agree. The only food i can think of is jalapeno poppers. Because half a jalapeno, cream cheese, wrap in bacon, bake/air fry. Amazing.
by Anonymous2 days ago
Im angry so this fits

Oysters Rockefeller
by Anonymous2 days ago
YES. CRISPY BACON ALL THE WAY!!
by Anonymous2 days ago
I'd say a good bacon-wrapped hot dog — properly prepared, by the abuleta on her street corner grill — is a rare sign that love is real in the world.
by Yundtmarion2 days ago
Haven't eaten a mammal since the mid-90s and I still miss bacon. I don't care how it's consumed.
by Anonymous2 days ago
So I make these pig in a blank that I call "Hogs in a Hammock", I cook cheddar brauts wrap them in thick cut bacon then in their dough wraps to cook once more in the oven.
by Anonymous2 days ago
You ever had a bacon wrapped hot dog with a bunch of jalapeños?? Clearly not.
by Hot_Basket_86692 days ago
Bacon wrapped anything at a good Brazilian barbecue place is always fantastic. It just has to be cooked right so it does t dry things out.
by Anonymous2 days ago
Jalapeño poppers maybe an exception
by ahmedokon2 days ago
Dates
by Anonymous2 days ago
Completely agree with OP. End meat on meat violence.
by Certain_Beat2 days ago
The exception to this is bacon-wrapped dates. The dates caramelize the bacon and it's such a sweet and savory combo. Highly recommend.
by Vilma182 days ago
Some bacon wrapped foods benefit from the bacon. Some don't.
by No_Introduction2 days ago
I have mixed opinions on this. Bacon wrapped steak, I agree. Bacon wrapped jalepano poppers? Nah those are so much better with bacon. Shrimp, I could go either way honestly. Bacon makes alot of things better, but it does not make everything better.
by Anonymous2 days ago
I think it's pretty good on shrimp. It makes an interesting contrast of flavors and textures.
by Ok_Diamond22452 days ago
Jalapeño poppers. You are wrong.
by Anonymous2 days ago
I wrap bacon in bacon
by Anonymous2 days ago
The only thing I liked wrapped in bacon was chicken at Texas de brazil
by SalaryNo2 days ago
My biggest issue with bacon wrapped foods is that if there's too much of a texture disparity between the bacon and whatever its wrapped around, it can be a pain in the ass to eat. Chewy bacon around a jalapeno popper? One bite and it just squeezes everything out.
by Anonymous2 days ago
Who is out here calling bacon wrap "fancy"? It's dead greasy animal wrapped around more dead animal and it's delicious
by Anonymous2 days ago
Hold on, I'll get you help asap!
by Anonymous2 days ago
TLDR I hate nice things
by Anonymous2 days ago
Ah, but when you're a child and your parent overcooks the meat the bacon makes it edible and keeps it at least a tiny bit moist!
by Far_Masterpiece67082 days ago
Agreed, just over powers whatever it's wrapped in taste of bacon. Which is fine if you want something tasting of bacon lol, otherwise hard pass.
by Anonymous2 days ago
Agree wholeheartedly. Cook the food in bacon grease instead. Adds flavor and crispness. Usually bacon wrapping doesn't get the bacon crispy enough to add the pizzazz its going for.
by Anonymous2 days ago
Hmm. I agree with you.
by Anonymous2 days ago
Well, as long as you're in my house, you'll do what I do and believe what I believe! So bacon up that sausage boy
by Anonymous2 days ago
You do know you can wrap something in bacon and cook it so its not floppy? If you dont like the flavor combo thats fine, but if its just the soggy bacon, which I agree is gross, then its the method not the bacon.
