Boys will be boys is not a valid reason, amirite?
by Anonymous5 hours ago
This isn't unpopular

Used in the way of boys getting dirty or playing rough I think it's used regularly. I never hear normal people to use it to excuse it for hitting someone or acting reckless

I'm sorry, but are you implying that there are behavioral differences between boys and girls?
by Anonymous4 hours ago
Yes, often there are.
by Anonymous4 hours ago
Those behavioral differences are because of society. Not biological.

why does everything need to be explained extremely clearly in order for people to know what it means? Because how else are we meant to understand?

Most popular and woke-ish take

Common sense is now woke?

Always has been

Not excusing misbehaving isn't a "woke-ish take", it's just common sense.

What do you mean?

Right.... How is this the most popular opinion even? Just because YOU don't think it is, doesn't make it so.

Boy will be boys can have acceptable uses as a phase... Kind always wants to run around and is high energy, boys will be boys. Kid hits someone unprovoked... Not acceptable.

Hot take: boys will be boys implies girls shouldn't get messy muddy or have high energy! "Kids will be kids">"boys will be boys"
by damorekennedi53 minutes ago
But it IS the reason. It used to be considered the job of civilization to counteract natural inclinations.

It does not validate the actions

I guess it is up to you to decide what is normal boyish behavior to be ignored or encouraged and what needs to be quashed before you end up with a violent rapist running things.

What I like about the quote is not necessarily the gendering, but the admission that some behaviours are normal. Doesn't mean you should accept bad behaviour or not step in to redirect. I would say all three examples are pretty normal behaviour for that age range. Have you ever seen two toddlers fighting over the same toy? Man those little guys are savage! As others have said: kids will be kids.
