If you don't like him you don't like him but I think he done pretty good in his more recent films.

he's definitely above average but he is also certainly not one of the all time greats, and i think thats a pretty popular opinion but i may be wrong

My barometer is, if the actor can tell the story without me straining to suspend my disbelief or take me out of the emersion, then they are a great actor. Dicaprio has done so in many roles, where I feel like I'm watching the character he is portraying. Also, Billy Zane carried?? If thats the case, I'd argue the iceberg carried the film...

Example of an actor that you had to strain for: Brad Pitt in Seven Years in Tibet

This is just stupidly ignorant and wrong. You could literally never come close to the skill and depth required for any one of his excellent performances.

I'm not a fan of Leo, but this is objectively wrong. This isn't an unpopular opinion, this is an incorrect statement.

I mean outside of a few actors who rreeaaaalllllly dive into roles, the vast majority of actors are just paid to play a variation of themselves so that the company can profit off their name. He's clearly a solid actor, but even if he weren't studios are much more willing to invest in a known quantity whose name fills seats than the best actor in the world if they have no fans. Awards don't equal sales, so most studios would prefer a Leo, Samuel L Jackson, or. Robert Downey Jr to a Daniel day Lewis

If the objective measure of his acting ability is how well his movies tend to do at the box office, you are wrong
