Entertainment has many faces. But what is considered fun doesn't solely has to mean joy. Fun had become a more or less neutral term to say: "Yeah I had a positive reaction to that."

I mean if you're playing a game purely for the story or worldbuilding and you're not having a bad time for most of it, I would say that you are in fact having fun.

I think we have very different definitions of fun. If you enjoy thinking about and absorbing the game's story, improving and getting better or experiencing something unique then I would say that's still fun. I'm not a fan of this definition because it effectively means that horror games are not meant to be fun because the emotion they try to elicit is fear
