Movie theaters deserve to go out of business, amirite?

My only bad experiences in movie theaters are when parents take their kids to movies not meant for children.

Brother I saw Batman and Robin and McHale's Navy in theaters. It was fine. I had a big screen, popcorn, soda and air conditioning.

I love the movie theater and it's a treat for me to take myself to a matinee every couple weeks. Plus it makes for a great, easy, low stress, fun date night with my husband when there is something we are stoked about.

My friends and I go to a theater where they have an adults only theater. They bring your food to your seat. The seats are incredibly comfortable. There's another local theater where they have Pineapple Whips all year round. (No, I do not mean Dole Whip. Pineapple Whips are a local treat that predate Dole Whips.) Some movies are worth it.

Small art house cinemas can stay. People are respectful, the films are great and the prices are reasonable. Big chain movie theaters are the ninth circle of Hell.

Really can't fathom people who say stuff like "going to a theater is such a miserable experience." I genuinely always feel nice and refreshed walking out of one after seeing a good movie. I usually end up there when I have nothing else to do just to get out of the house. I assume people saying this are antisocial weirdos who just hate leaving their homes unless absolutely necessary. It's nice to go out!

i would highly recommend investing into loop earplugs or some other earplugs intended for concerts. same exact sound quality but it just lowers the volume.

i see about 6 movies a month in theaters and only spend about 24$ each month.. basically the price of one streaming service 😭 i have only had one truly bad patron who was literally on facetime during the showing but phone use has gone down significantly the last couple years in theaters from my experiences atleast. honestly just sounds like you don't enjoy movies theaters are 1000% the best place to watch them

Whereas I agree it's an overpriced early access to a movie that the companies could very easily just release on streaming at the same time as a theater unfortunately they will never go away as long as they are profitable and people are stupid with their money.

The problem is, movie theatres don't really have any control over what they can show. They're reliant on production companies making good movies. A theatre could do everything right, keep its prices low and the experience premium, and still go out of business just because there's nothing they can show that people want to watch. And we'll really regret having lost all our cinemas if someone ever makes a really good movie that is worth the cinema experience.
