+42 Most documentaries are a waste of time. amirite?

There's a huge degree of bloat in a lot of streaming projects, and documentaries seem to be hit with it more than anything else, probably because they're relatively cheap to make. Things that would've made good 60 Minutes segments are now movies, things that would've been movies up to 10 - 15 years ago are now miniseries. It's dreadful. There was one miniseries a couple years back about some McDonalds related scam and literally every piece of information in the first episode (as far as I made it) was relayed at least twice. Some reporter would say something trivial like "you have to understand, crime is illegal." Then they'd cut to some cop who'd be like "in this state, it's illegal to commit a crime."

You don't watch a documentary to learn, you watch a documentary to see cool footage of nature.

Nature docs are an exception! Although, they too have their crimes.

A lot of documentaries are like recipe pages on a cooking website. 90% just filler BS and 10% actually useful

Understandable in a world of short attention span fuelled by instant gratification.
