+75 The Walking Dead was pure slop, right from the start, amirite?

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Isn't the general opinion that the first 4 seasons are good?

by Anonymous 1 week ago

First five at least I would say. I mean it's not awful at any point (to me) but the magic doesn't last all the way through.

by RevolutionaryJob 1 week ago

The last season or 2 is pretty awful The discount stormtroopers were really jarring.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Good point.

by RevolutionaryJob 1 week ago

I loved all of it and the spin-offs. I'm a simple man with simple needs.

by Webster58 1 week ago

Goodbye mama, now you can have ice cream in heaven! I'll see you again tonight when I go to bed in my head movies. But this head movie makes my eyes rain!

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Yeah, and my opinion is that none were good. Maybe the third one, cause it had a compelling antagonist and they actually went in depth to different facets of the apocalypse

by Anonymous 1 week ago

It was some time ago. I binged it, trying to invest in the characters. Suffice to say, most interesting characters were killed off for shock value

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Bruh, you went 5 seasons!!

by Anonymous 1 week ago

28 Days Later wasn't the first movie to have someone wake up and realize that society has collapsed. 28 days was inspired by The Day of the Triffids. There was also The Quiet Earth where a guy wakes up and realizes he's the last human left. It's a pretty common trope.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Yeah, but i couldn't remember which. So i slapped 28 Days.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Calling it a ripoff of something else when it's a common trope is just wrong then. It's a common way to do the fish out of water narrative in an apocalyptic setting

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Quiet Earth even has that same overhead shot of the main character naked in his bed before waking up. Released in 85.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Eh, I enjoyed it for what it was. I think my biggest pet peeve was fully automatic weapons that never need to reload. But that's lots of action movies.

by Resident-Guess3934 1 week ago

Hershel shoot gun that was like 99/100 caboom 98/100 caboom 97/100. He shot like 50 shotgun rounds without reloading

by Cordellolson 1 week ago

Mine was everyone able to nail perfect headshots all of the time.

by Big_Eye 1 week ago

Mine was them firing with the gun barrel three inches from someone else's ear.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Have you read the comic?

by Anonymous 1 week ago

"cause it's a hard thing to write" Jesus Christ the irony of this sentence

by SurpriseLocal7597 1 week ago

"Tough" "difficult" what did you want me to say

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Wasnt it a contagious fungus that turned them into zombies? Not dead people with no muscle rising from graves. And his family dies. The show is about the realistic horrors of humanity. Not a realistic premonition of the future. Its frequent character depth made it fun.

by Embarrassed_Draw4497 1 week ago

No, they die, then parts of the brain begin restarting a bit after death due to an unknown virus, they rise up, want to eat flesh, but they keep rotting like they're dead nonetheless. The fungus was from the Last of Us

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Sorry. Youre right. A lot of these zombie shows get confusing

by Embarrassed_Draw4497 1 week ago

Isn't it in the comics or something that it was like an alien virus or something?

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Yeah, I think the creator of the comic said on Twitter that it was basically an alien invasion or something.

by AcceptableOkra 1 week ago

The first three seasons were amazing. Things went downhill as soon as Rick and Carl bounced.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I only like 3, cause of that psycho Governor antagonist, and the fact that they explored many facets of the Apocalypse. Carl bounced in Season 8, when the show was already knee deep in mudd

by Anonymous 1 week ago

"The walking around a lot, without very many dead"

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Disagree. The first season was pretty damn compelling. Everything else was slop.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

You had me then you lost me.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

100% agree Mad Men, it ain't.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

If you mean FTWD, it doesn't explain that at all. Also if you need spinoffs to support your main narrative, you dont do a competent job nonetheless. I used the word slop as a catchy title, and I explain everything in the text

by Anonymous 1 week ago

It's not catchy it's slop :P

by Anonymous 1 week ago

How do you feel about the first season of "the last of Us?"

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Loved it

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Yeah, I went to high school between 2002 to 2006 and the zombie craze began right as I was graduating. I did not care for it much because I kept thinking when you die your body gets rigamortis and begins to rot. The zombie always struck me as the weakest of evil entities for a movie. Now a fungus taking over a living person and driving them insane or compelling them to do things for the benefit of the fungus made way more sense.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

It became extremely repetitive

by Motor_Boot 1 week ago

Yeah this one is an unpopular opinion cause I like TWD

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Right? The first season was kinda interesting I guess but then they made it into some stupid zombie tele novela.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

soap opera level drama Not saying it's a perfect show, but it was always more about the drama between humans than the undead.

by Impossible_Judge 1 week ago

They got it right when they were facing the governor, the cannibals and the hospital people. Everything else was just gang shootouts that could've been in literally any series

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Lol... my mom destroyed TWD for me. Something along the lines of, "it moves so slowly and there are so many dead scenes." I started noticing gow, if you cut out all the scenes with them just walking with not dialog... a season could be covered in 2-3 episodes at most.

by Charlenestanton 1 week ago

It's a really good read. Right when you think it's going to get stale, they throw a huge curveball. Negan was handled way better and it's a good ending.

by PhilosopherLow 1 week ago

I hate when movies and series about zombies or apocalypse skip the part of society fall. It's the most interesting part.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

The first comic was already written when 28 Days Later came out so it wasn't an homage or a ripoff, just a weird coincidence

by Anonymous 1 week ago

The first 2-3 seasons are incredible. After that it quickly turned into slop.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

First, the author specifically explained that he did not want to cover the fall of society, nor did he want to explain the situation with the zombies or how they came to be. The entire CDC arc was made for TV, it was not in the comics. Second, the comics and show are a drama about the people surviving the cataclysm. The fact that it was caused by zombies is a byproduct. Zombies themselves are really only dangerous to people who don't pay attention and when they move in large numbers. The real threats are other people.

by Vegetable_Ask5041 1 week ago

My favorite part of TWD was realizing that the survivors were the titular walking dead

by tyshawn52 1 week ago

It started off very strong with season 1 but after Darabont left it just has only gotten worse. I also liked the idea that walkers could regain some of their old habits back like trying to open doors. The zombie designs are outstanding throughout the show, I especially like how much more decayed they get over time.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

The first season was really good TV, then it did steadily decline imo. They jumped the shark a few times trying to up the ante from the previous implausible reason for a reset. ~Like, no one saw the little girl at the jail going to the fence and baiting walkers?!~<

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Are you also gonna say I am Legend is pure slop too

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I'll say it. I Am Legend was pure slop.

by Potential-Role 1 week ago

At least that one gives some explanation about the zombies, and it also draws heavily from the Omega Man. You cant go too wrong with those elements. Also, one 2hour action movie vs a multi season show spanning multiple years and spinoffs, plus huge commercial success so you have the budget to push the narrative into all kinds of different directions, yet you dont.

by Anonymous 1 week ago

I gotta agree with you

by Anonymous 1 week ago

you want slop? i will show you slop! *unzips*

by Anonymous 1 week ago

This is not even an opinion, this is just a rant

by Anonymous 1 week ago

Tf are you talking about lmao. I swear people just throw out the word woke for anything these days
