+91 Calling an album ‘Self-titled' when it's actually named the band is dumb and underplays the meaning of it the name, amirite?

by Anonymous 5 days ago

this isn't even an opinion it's just dumb. you refer to is as their self titled album for simplicities sake, because otherwise it just becomes confusing and redundant

You disrespect the artists' vision.

if you think that referring to things in an efficient manner is disrespecting the spirit of that art then you have very soft feelings

Have you listened to Weezer? That album's sick.

No it's just a lil blue

I love Bad Company Are they referring to the Band, album, or song? "self titled" is used to avoid confusion.

I like "Bad Company" on "Bad Company" by "Bad Company" while I'm in bad company, working for a bad company

by Pearlhettinger 5 days ago

I can't deny

by Regular_Squash5456 5 days ago

Then say I like the Bad Company album. Instead you say I like the Bad Company self titled. More words for no reason.

by Anonymous 5 days ago

More words for no reason. The title track of the self titled album Bad Company Vs. Bad Company the song from Bad Company the album by the band Bad Company.

by Regular_Squash5456 5 days ago

the bad company album can refer to any album by bad company depending on context, if you were talking about their self titled you'd have to say "i like bad company by bad company". not to mention that there's a track also named bad company. again this isn't even really an opinion, this is you not understanding linguistics but thinking you're somehow enlightened when it comes to art appreciation

My favorite Metallica album because it was my first exposure.

Don't say that too loudly, you'll attract our "This album sold them out" fanbase 😂

How dumb do you have to be to think the Beatles named their title-less album The White Album? It was everyone else. Eponymous 1st albums show humility rather than pretentiousness. It's their sole body of work that needs no title to differentiate it from their other works. Led Zeppelin, The Clash, The B-52s, Van Halen, Foo Fighters. Seriously.

Tbf I like it because the self-titled album is so cringe and pretentious at this point, they bags deserve to have a little bit of air let out of their sails for that.
