It's harder to make people laugh with wholesome humor because wholesome things aren't funny... You laugh at stuff like that because it gives you a good feeling, not because it took "skill" to describe or illustrate a scenario that's relatable, cute, or "real"

Jokes on you I'm already desensitized. That's why it's funny.

Dark humor can be intelligent and can be a way people cope with harsh realities of our world.

You say dark humor's a cheap, easy win, That it dulls all our senses and comes from within A place that is cruel and that tears people down, While "wholesome" takes skill to not cause any frown. But humor's not one-size, a rulebook to read, It's a way to process the pain and the need. Sometimes a dark joke is a shield and a light, To face down the terrors we battle at night. It doesn't "desensitize," it can help us to cope, And find a much-needed and genuine hope. So don't call it "low skill," a cheap, lazy art, It's a complex response from a compassionate heart. True humor has many parts, not just one part.
