MMA is the best of all worlds though. It has boxing, kickboxing, jiu jitsu, wrestling, etc, all of which have their pros and cons. Having them all mixed together is the best fight-watching experience.

I respect the hell out of jiu jitsu, but its so boring to watch a match that turns into all grappling. My ideal version of a fight would be all of kick boxing plus standing throws.

The issue with MMA is the current rules and scoring HEAVILY favor grapplers and as each year passes this becomes more and more apparent. Hence OP mentioning the ground game being "boring."

The unfortunate fact is some of those worlds are far less entertaining to watch than others. MMA is boxing/kickboxing mixed in with some very spectator unfriendly other options. Wrestling/JuJitsu are not entertaining to watch in rounds longer than 20-30 seconds, it wouldn't surprise me if your see some rules coming to to the UFC in the next few years to try and minimise it a little. Despite a ridiculous amount of investment and promotion, big boxing events still dwarf the bigger UFC fights.

The biggest combat sport is grocery shopping before holidays. It's also the deadliest.

Yeah people buying stuff on their phone over a week is preferable but man, it used to be an event. Not one I wanted to participate in but a real excitement for some. It's now also somewhat ruined thanksgiving

Street fighting should be the most popular form of combat sport. Only rules no gloves, no shoes, no weapons, no rounds, no weight class, and last one willing/able to fight wins.
