For the record, I also used to hate Alfredo tbh and I am pretty picky about sauces to some degree so l get it (I also hate mac and cheese so thats something I've gotten flack for) I feel like people are super performative about their supposed outrage when someone dislikes a widely popular food. That's actually a pet peeve of mine tbh

European here. Personally it seems like taking a lot of mellow flavours and ending up with something pretty bland. The lack of any veg or anything to counteract the creaminess makes it pretty beige but not the worst thing ever cooked

broccoli and spinach are pretty common in alfredo in the states. I can see what you are saying, though. I am pretty picky about alfredo...I would happily eat any kind served to me, but when you get a place that has it salty enough, maybe some garlic...mamma mia...so good.

Alfredo is one of my favourite and least favourite sauces at the same time. When it's flavourful and there's garlic and real cream and properly cooked decent quality pasta it's an amazing comfort food, but when it's bad it's just so bad, it's like thick milk slop and it's awful.

Have you tried it at Olive Garden? i know people bash the place, but their alfredo is seriously some of the best I have had because they aren't bashful about loading up the fat and flavor. Most places serve the creamy milky stuff you speak of that I pass on, but Olive Garden's is thicker, saltier, and the perfect amount of garlic. I prefer to get a cup of it for dipping breadsticks.

It's not my favorite but I make it like once or twice a year because I get a hankering. Mine is a lot more garlicky than jarred sauce and I'll honestly never order simple pasta and sauce from a restaurant because it's super easy to make well at home.

I agree, but its not the cream I have an issue with, its putting chicken on pasta like that. it doesnt really add much for me, especially the white meat they typically use. I'd honestly just prefer it off to the side so I can enjoy the pasta. chicken thighs and roasted potatoes/veg, however, with some Alfredo, or bechamel, drizzled over it would be amazing
