I saw 22 Jump Street in theaters. It was legitimately funny when first said. Everyone in the theater laughed or chuckled. However, was it drawn-out and overplayed as a meme? Yes.

It was very funny in the movie because of the contrast of how good Johan Hill's character was compared to Channing Tatum, the fact Johan just expected him to be able to improvise an accent and then his pitiful effort in the end. The joke has a lot going for it.
