I'll agree if you agree a Cheeseburger is a salad. Cheese, lettuce, onion, meat, bun (croutons), sauce/condiment (dressing).
by Anonymous1 day ago
i said the salad has to have greens, not any dish having greens becoming a salad i do wish a cheeseburger was a salad though
by Anonymous1 day ago
This is so stupid. What you're describing is already literally called "garden salad." Salad is derived from Latin meaning "salted." In Thailand and Laos they have meat salads. A salad is just mixed ingredients. You don't get to redefine words just to suit your own ignorance.
by nedraoberbrunne1 day ago
sorry let me rephrase it ‘A salad must have greens' - did this help you absorb the information? i will die on this hill
by Anonymous1 day ago
Definition of "Salad" A mixture containing a specified ingredient served with a dressing.
by InevitableCupcake6261 day ago
i know the definition, i've read the definition and i've read the etymology of the word and it's history i disagree
by Anonymous1 day ago
Sometimes opinions are unpopular for a reason. You've just proven that lol
by Anonymous1 day ago
That's not an opinion. You're just wrong about the definition of a word.
by sengerelizabeth1 day ago
TIL only green things are healthy
by babykertzmann1 day ago
That's why my diet consists of entirely lime Jello and green apple shnapps.
by Fuzzy-Individual62681 day ago
Doctors and health experts hate this one simple trick
by babykertzmann1 day ago
i didn't say only green things are healthy
by Anonymous1 day ago
So what you're saying is you don't care about official definitions - you made up your own and everything else is wrong. Got it. That's not an unpopular opinion, that's factually wrong.
by ksimonis1 day ago
Factually wrong? What? My opinion that a salad must have greens? Do tell me more
by Anonymous1 day ago
Pickles or chives or dill in potato salad. There's some green in there. Your idea makes sense but your focus on the colour green is weird. Lots of vegetables without green. Heck there's even purple lettuce. You telling me that wouldn't be a salad?
by Anonymous1 day ago
Redefining words to meet our own personal preference seems to be what often passes for opinion.

Salad is one of those words that can mean different things. Like sandwich originally meant meat between bread. But by that definition a hotdog is a sandwich and if you use vegan stuff in your sandwich, it wouldn't be. You're upset the meaning of words has shifted, but they do that constantly. Language is fluid.
by PureCommunication1 day ago
if you use vegan stuff in your sandwich, it wouldn't be. So, like, I don't have any issue with vegans putting things between bread, but the minute they start calling it a sandwich I feel like it devalues my sandwich that I worked so hard to construct with meat between bread, a sandwich is between a man and a woman, err... I mean meat between two breads, but not in-bread... Eww
by bruce521 day ago
This has an immature feeling to it. Tomato salad, spelt salad, greek salad... all of them can be made helathy and without greens
by Anonymous1 day ago
what about parsley
by Tristian821 day ago
i love an alio e olio but it isn't salad ):
by Anonymous1 day ago
Is a typical salad with leafy greens and a ton of vinaigrette or other dressing still a salad if it's not healthy?
by Anonymous1 day ago
no if it's loads of dressing then it becomes a dressing-based dish, like a soup
by Anonymous1 day ago
Not that much. Maybe 4-5 tbsp
by Anonymous1 day ago
Lettuce has little to no nutritional value yet for a lot of salads its the only green vegetable
by Humble-Toe-91791 day ago
this is a myth tbh, lettuce actually has lots of good vits
by Anonymous1 day ago
Chicken Salad.
by sauereddie1 day ago
has some greens!
by Anonymous1 day ago
Not necessarily, unless you mean the celery.
by Anonymous1 day ago
well then it's WRONG
by Anonymous1 day ago
Pickle relish and or celery?
by sauereddie1 day ago
You cannot claim this as an unpopular opinion when it's just straight up wrong. Sorry you don't like the meaning of the word salad but that doesn't mean you get to change it.
by Hanereva1 day ago
Something not being healthy unless it's got a leaf in it is a wild take.
by Anonymous1 day ago
i didn't say everything that doesn't have greens in it is unhealthy
by Anonymous1 day ago
This is unpopular, but it's not an opinion. It's ignorance. You simply don't know what the word salad means and think it originated from greens.
